Rehearsal Dinner
I thought that if I am going to talk about the wedding weekend, I really need to include EVERYTHING from the weekend.
On the Friday night before our wedding, we held our rehearsal dinner at Spiro's in Chesterfield. Mike's parents wanted to incorporate their Greek culture and food into the wedding and it was awesome. Remember the invitations?
We didn't really get a rehearsal at the Jewel Box and we planned on rehearsing with the bridal party before the dinner. Unfortunately, my coordinator was stuck in traffic so I had to run the show myself. I don't think I did too well but we got through it and were ready to party!
Don't I just have the cutest bridal party? Uch...so beautiful! We enjoyed a wonderful cocktail hour that was followed by such beautiful speeches by Mike's parents. Mike's mom even cried! It was very nice and to follow in the idea from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," Mike's dad gave my dad some Windex. The tables for dinner were decorated with the blue and white theme and cute little Greek flags.
Dinner was delicious (I had the salmon and it was amazing). Who takes pictures of their food? Seriously?
After dinner and more toasts from friends, we watched a video that our parents created for us. It was an adorable slideshow of pictures of Mike and I from birth until now. It was amazing...I laughed (you should have seen Mike's acid wash jean outfit), I cried (the video of our engagement was put in the movie), and it just made me so so happy.
Finally, we presented our bridal party with our gifts. We introduced our friends to the group and explained how we knew each person. I had been crying during the video and was pretty emotional. (Mike even cried when he spoke about his brothers.) Of course, I cried...especially when talking about my sister, Ali. Why do people look so ugly when the cry?! Hum...oh well. After drinks, dinner, video, more drinks, dessert, more drinks, and dinner we started to get a little tipsy. Mike's mom taught everyone the Greek circle dance and the girls decided to "Drop, pop, and lock it." Come on, don't you know that song?
Started with the popped arm... (who told us this was attractive?)Then we started to fall...
And fall some more.... (check out my ankle...ouch)
And then ended up on the floor. Cute huh?!
EDIT***I didn't know that this song was actually filmed in St. Louis! NOW I LOVE IT EVEN MORE*** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79pLVeePF5w&feature=related
Of course, I gotta post the guy picture! After the rehearsal dinner, we all headed down the street to a local bar and continued the celebration. This is exactly why we did not do our rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding. Friday night down...Saturday and Sunday to go!
I take pictures of my food too. I'm pretty sure every meal I ate on my honeymoon was documented, lol.
It sounds like a great rehearsal! I love rehearsal dinners, especially when it was MY rehearsal dinner. The best moment was when my mom made us all practice the hussle after dinner.
Such cute pictures! Looks like a super fun rehearsal dinner!
Pop, Lock it, Drop it is too much fun. A few of my African American friends at my old job asked me to show them my version of this song often, because it made them roll on the ground in laughter. :)
What a fun night! Can't wait for more.
What a blast! And, I love your dress. Such a beautiful rehearsal dinner.
That looks like a really fun rehearsal dinner. The salmon looks yummy. I've often commented to myself how attractive your wedding party is!
