Ethan's Room

Ethan's bedroom was actually the very first room we painted on the very first day we moved in.  We wanted him to feel comfortable in his new home (and sleep) so we wanted to get all of his furniture and belongings in the room as soon as possible.  All of the furniture and prints are from the nursery in our old house. 

BEFORE:  Beautiful, purple checkerboard :)

 

AFTER: We ended up using a pale blue color for the walls.  It is called "Tropical Surf" by Glidden (Home Depot's brand paint).

Much better!  Still need window treatments (I'd love to have red chevron of something) and maybe a mural on the wall above the crib.  But man, SOOO much better.  It is amazing how big Ethan's room is now (especially compared to his old room).  He loves it and so do we!

Next room on the to-do list?  Our BRIGHT green master bedroom.

Ethan's Nursery

In February, I posted my nursery inspiration. It is so interesting to see what actually happened and what didn't (most of it didn't!).

Let's start with some pictures that Mike took and posted on his blog.

Please remember that our nursery was started when I was 7 months pregnant! Crazy, I know! My husband did ALL of the work in this room. I told him what I liked and what I wanted, and he did it! He also designed and painted the beautiful mural above Ethan's bed. I'm a lucky, lucky lady. Again, I have vision but the man has talent.

Luckily it all came together in time for Ethan's arrival (we bought the rug the night before my water broke). We wanted a simple, calming room with a classic feel. I think we pulled it off.

Oh man...I have a screaming baby so I have to go. I don't know how so many of you blogger mommies blogged everyday with a newborn! Yikes!!!

Nursery Inspiration

With our second trimester scares, we decided to put off the nursery a little longer than usual. But now, (finally) at the beginning of 3rd trimester, I think it is time to get started!!!

We knew that any nursery of ours was NOT going to have a theme. No animals, cars, sports, etc. Instead, we wanted to find a color scheme and build our nursery around that. I scoured the internet for inspiration and was getting frustrated. Boy nurseries are hard!

Finally, we found that a mix of grey, turquoise, green, and white were the colors that most attracted us. Here's some of our inspiration:

First off, MODG (LOVE her), hit the nail on the head.Not sure where I found this but similar colors.
I was so excited to find this set from Dwell Studio!And I had Mike make this inspiration board...We have done a bunch of tweaking since then and honestly, I am not sure what we will end with.

We did end up deciding on this crib:
We are going to purchase the Ikea Hemnes white dresser and I can't wait to see it together with the crib.Then I started to like this inspiration board and new bedding...Ugh...I'm such a mess!

Not sure on our final bedding. Right now, we have these ordered to see in person:And I'm still thinking about the owls...I want to make this mobile...still trying to figure that out!
I just can't let myself spend over $500 on a chair. I understand the importance of the rocker/glider but we are probably going to go with someone a little less expensive. I like the chocolate slipcover on the Dorel rocker, but of course, the chocolate color isn't in stock. Why can't anything be easy?
I LOVE this shag rug from Ikea!Ok...that was such a random collection of pictures and text. Once we decide on our bedding, we will then start the painting and we will finally get going. Can you see my vision? What do you think?
