Yay...
We have recipients of our Save the Dates! Our photographer posted Mike's wonderful handwriting and our WONDERFUL stamps on his blog.
Actually, I have been having wedding anxiety and dreams/nightmares lately. Last night, Michael Browers (our photographer) took only 40 pictures at our wedding. The day flew by so fast and I didn't remember certain things that had happened. In my dream, I woke up to look at pictures on the blog and saw things that I didn't think had happened. It was actually pretty scary!!! I laid in bed (before I feel asleep) at 10:30 and didn't actually fall asleep until 1:3o. My brain just wouldn't turn off. Very frustrating. My friend at work (who just got married a couple of years ago) told me that I need to drink 2 glasses of wine each night with a Tylenol PM. I didn't take the medicine but I definitely drank the wine tonight :) NIGHT NIGHT!!!
Oh...
and it is official. I am getting married! The Save the Dates arrived at peoples' homes today! WOO HOO!!!
Read more...Pity Party
I am just feeling sorry for myself right now so I am going to throw a pity party for myself. I am SO busy right now...it is ridiculous! Looking at my calender depresses me. The next day that I am free after work isn't until February 19th!!! My schedule is full of basketball games, meetings with my rabbi and real estate agent, cheerleading meetings, technology and literacy committee meetings, and best of all, Masters classes.
I just got home from my first class of the semester and this is not going to be an easy one. I have taken 4 classes so far and none have been easy, but I think this is going to be the worst one yet. A lot of work, tons of assignments, and an actual final exam! I understand that people probably don't understand my shock and disgust about a final exam. Teachers don't really take tests. We write papers...lots and lots of papers. Throughout my undergrad and even graduate classes, I probably took a total 5 tests. I had finals but I would have to write papers for the final time or give a presentation but this....GRRRRR. Annoying!
Hehe...

I hope that people don't feel this way about our wedding. It is on August 31st, 2008 (Labor Day weekend)!!!
Am I crazy?
Through this whole wedding planning process, I don't think that I have become a bridezilla yet. However, Mike has told me (on many occasions) that I have been over-analyzing things. My latest obsession has been stamps. We have been working on addressing our Save the Dates but I am stuck on the stamps. I don't need the cutest stamp out there...however, look at the choices that I have!!!
The settlement of Jamestown?! Although I teach all about Jamestown to my students, I do NOT want Jamestown on my envelopes!
Ohhh...the panther. Ummmm, no thanks!
Not too big of a duck fan. I liked the "Mighty Ducks" movies...but that's about it.
I am sorry if someone reading this is a weird Disney freak, BUT I think Disney characters are strange (especially on objects...such as T-shirts, watches, STAMPS, etc.).
SO FINALLY, after searching high and low, I found the answer to my Save the Date Envelopes prayer! Here they are....
CELEBRATE! How perfect! And all of the colors will look great on our black envelope! I can finally sleep at night!!!
Cool kid pictures
As I was surfing through blogs, I found a new one called Design Mom. This woman made an amazing holiday card using her kids. They laid on the floor and created a beautiful background using a Christmas tree and Hannukah menorah. Personally, I felt so lucky as a kid growing up and celebrating both holidays while learning about both religions. I am so excited that my kids will get to grow up this way too! Man, I wish that Mike and I had kids right now so we could make a card like this (ha...and that is the only reason that I would want kids right now)!
She got the idea from a photographer, Jon Von Hollenben, and his pictures using kids. These are some of my favorites.

Aren't those amazing! I love them!!! Photography is just something that intrigues me. When I grow up, I want to learn more about it...and possibly buy a big girl camera (my Sony digital is fine for now).
Spencer Pratt?
So today, 2 people told me that Mike looks like Spencer Pratt. Mind you, it came from 2 of my high school cheerleaders...but at separate times and not in front of each other. Hopefully your question is the same as mine..."Who the hell is Spencer Pratt?" I am told that he is the kid that dates that Laguna-Beach-Heidi girl! So I looked up pictures of this guy...what do you think?
I mean, I see it with the blond, spiky hair. I guess there is a resemblance. Mike's nickname at work is "O-Town." When he first started working at his company, they thought he looked like a member of a boyband (specifically Ashley Parker Angel from O-Town). Haha...he would kill me if he knew I was talking about this!
Again...blond, spiky hair and a babyface! Ah, oh well...I guess it could be worse! They could say that he looks like someone gross! I am soooo tired...I am going to bed! Nitenite!
Is it Friday yet?
The fact that it is only Tuesday is somewhat depressing! I have been getting up at 5:45 each morning after 2 wonderful weeks of relaxing and sleeping in...and it really hurts. On the bright side, I am getting to work in the same amount of time as I was before the highway shutdown. But at 6:30 in the morning, no one is really on the road so it has been smooth sailing so far!
Well, my color-coded closet is back in action. I am a self-proclaimed slob. But let me explain, I am not dirty but I am very messy! I just have too much stuff and nowhere to put it! So it always blows my mind that I keep my clothes in rainbow order. Strange, huh?!
I am watching the Biggest Loser right now (Couples Edition). First of all, it is AMAZING! I love this show. I usually cry at least 2-3 times each episode. It just amazes me how the human body is able to lose weight so quickly. This chick , Ali, lost 19 pounds in one week! ONE WEEK! That is my goal for the freaking year!
And some of the men lost 30 pounds the first week! Seriously, it is a show worth watching. The transformations of these people are incredible. Definitely puts my weight issues into perspective...but also shows that anyone can do it.
How annoying!!!
So yesterday evening, my mom and I were hanging out in my room after getting home from the bridal show at America's Center. We were trying to figure out how to kill an hour before dinner our with my family. I had just been to Walmart and I bought a little bag of bows for Christmas gift wrapping. It probably weighs a couple of ounces...pretty much a bag of air! Mike came over and I asked him to please toss the bows to the top of my closet where my other gift wrap is located. Less than 30 seconds after he puts them up top, my closet rack starts to tilt. Then...everything falls. The top rack falls on the next rack, that pulls out of the wall, then all of my clothes fall on my shoes. First of all, I have WAY to many articles of clothing...I know that. But seeing everything sitting at the bottom of my closet really put it all into perspective. Mike, my mom, and I just stood there, staring, wide-eyed, and speechless at what we just watched. I had to pile all of my clothes on my bed, creating a 3 foot pile (see picture). So we went out to dinner and my roommate worked on the closet. But we got home and everything looked the same....he needs to get to Home Depot for some new supplies. So I moved all of the clothes to the kitchen table and couches...my house looks crazy. So fixing the closet is the goal for the night! HOW ANNOYING!!!
This weekend...
Since I took the holiday season off of wedding planning, it is time to get back to work!
Saturday- #1....I want to decide on a bakery. We tasted cakes at The Cakery, Lubeley's, and McArthur's and they all were delicious! Honestly, I don't really care too much about the cake. I am usually on the dance floor by the time cake is served and Mike always eats both of our pieces. I think I am just going to go with whichever place has the lowest price. Cake is low on my priority list! #2...Mike and I need to put magnet strips on the back of our Save the Dates. They came in a few days ago and I am anxious to get these assembled, addressed, and mailed!
Sunday- Mom and I are going to hit up the bridal show at The America's Center. I hated the last bridal show that I went to...and even more I HATED all of the phone calls that I got afterwards. I am not going to give my name or phone number to anyone (ha...we will see if that really happens). I am just looking for a transportation company, tuxes, and maybe ceremony music. Hopefully I will find something that I need without going mentally insane!!!
Random Thoughts...
So....I have to go back to work tomorrow. I have had 2 weeks off (as I get each year) but this year it was especially long and relaxing. Going back tomorrow and figuring out how to get there will really be annoying at 6:00 tomorrow morning.
But for my last night of freedom, I am going to WICKED. I am SO excited!!! I am such a dork when it comes to musicals and I can't wait to go down to the Fox tonight. Mike has only seen one musical at the Fox so I am almost (only almost) more excited for him to go tonight!!!
Last thought before I have to go run errands. How much do I LOVE Katherine Heigl?! I have a lot of awesome friends...but I would definitely add her on! She is so much like us...just a normal girl. I remember seeing her shock when she won the Emmy for best supporting actress in a TV drama. She was completely surprised and you could see her mouth say "Oh Sh*t." But when she got up on the stage, she said it a couple more times. I love a girl who gets bleeped at the Emmy's! Her are her beautiful pictures from her wedding! Can't wait to see her in "27 Dresses."
Looking Back at 2007
2008 is definitely going to be a busy and exciting year for us! However, I want to take a quick look back on the most crazy and stressful year of my life, 2007!
Teaching- I finished my 2nd year and began my 3rd at my wonderful school in the Parkway School District. I went to Parkway schools growing up and graduated from Central in 2001.
Cheerleading- I also finished my 2nd year of coaching cheerleading at Parkway Central, where I cheered for football and basketball. I started my 3rd and most successful year also! My JV squad competed in the St. Louis Regional Competition and got 1st place (the day before I got engaged)!
Wedding- Mike and I got engaged at the Marc Broussard concert on August 2nd! It was the most amazing moment of my life and started a whirlwind of wedding planning. It has been a blast so far and we look forward to more planning along the way. Mike has been such an amazing help and I am so lucky that he is so involved in the whole planning process!
Masters- I began taking masters classes in 2007. I am getting my masters in Educational Administration through Lindenwood University. It has been very hard teaching all day, going to a football game to watch my cheerleaders, and then work on my masters. I have taken 12 credit hours so far and I have a 4.0!
Social Life- On top of my busy schedule, it is very important to me to maintain my social life. I have a wonderful group of friends in St. Louis and I try my best to see them weekly! We do anything from happy hours, dinner dates, movies, and most often, a night at the bars. I am so lucky to have such amazing people in my life.
Family- Family has added to this busy year. Running back and forth between Mike's family and mine can be stressful but we are grateful to have great parents and families!
HERE'S TO 2008!!!
New Years Eve
We went to "Red," a new bar/restaurant on Washington. They were definitely not prepared for such a large crowd and seemed very unorganized. However, we still had a wonderful time and rang in the year of our wedding, 2008!!!
Why?!
Honestly, I have no clue why I am creating a blog. I think it is a little mix of curiosity, boredom, narcissism, and intrigue. The wedding planning process has opened my eyes to the world of blogging and I must say...I LOVE IT! The more and more I read other peoples' blogs, I want one of my own. I don't have a real plan of what I will post here...just my thoughts on the world around me, wedding plans, celebrity gossip...we will see!!!
