Custom wedding invitations

Most of you know by now, I have a very talented hubby that designed and created our DIY wedding invitations. They were a labor of love and they were definitely worth the WEEKS of work we put into them!

When we started doing calligraphy on the side, I was contacted by a fellow bride and stlwed-er. She was starting her own company and wanted to know if she could refer her clients to us. OF COURSE!

She just launched her company and website and has wonderful samples of her custom invitations. The company is named Paper Frosting and she is now accepting clients. Here are some of my favorite invitations from her site:

Obviously, I am a damask fan...How sweet would this be for a baby or bridal shower luncheon?I am a big fan of the peacock feather...This is so cute for a bachelorette party...I really love envelope liners. They really add that finishing touch!Go check out her website! Melinda is so so sweet! Tell her that I sent ya ;)

Mike and I talked about wanting a nice camera for Christmas. Since then, Mike has been researching online and wishing and hoping for the $$$ to land in our bank account. Thanks to our tax return, this little baby will be joining us soon...

Guess who is watching NCAA basketball right now and drinking beer?
Guess who isn't interested in basketball at all but instead is walking around our house singing "pa-pa-pa-poker face, pa-pa-poker face..."

Seriously!??!

Dog Search

Yesterday was the first official day of our search for an addition to our lives. My friend, Allison, clued us in that there was a boxer pup down in House Springs. We called Open Door Animal Shelter before we made the long drive and found out that someone had put a "hold" on her from the day before but we could come and put a "second hold" on her (in case the other couple doesn't work out or pass the home visit).

Well....we fell in love with this little baby. I almost put her in my purse and took her home. She is a 3-4 month old brindle boxer and she was SO FREAKING SWEET. Unfortunately, we are 99% sure that we won't get her. We loved her but we know that we will love other dogs too as we continue our search.

Reception pro pics...

I hit a bit of a stall on posting our wedding pictures. We are still waiting on the rest of our reception pictures, but who knows when they will arrive so I will just go ahead without them.

We arrived too late with out photographers so we don't have any pictures of the untouched tables and escort cards. We worked so hard on them and it is a bummer that we don't have professional pictures. Thank goodness my cousin took great ones when she arrived!

Here are some great decor/detail shots that I liked...
And of course, we danced...photos by Browers Photography

European Vacay

I discussed that due to our lacking funds, we would not be spending a week in Napa. BUT...thanks to our AWESOME projected tax return, we are thinking about doing our European vacation this summer instead of next summer! Our destination of choice? ITALY!
We definitely would like to visit Rome...Maybe Florence...Of course, Venice... I used to be obsessed with the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun" and I would dream about finally seeing a place like this. Ohhh Tuscany...I don't even know where to start when planning on oversea adventure. I guess we could call our travel agent. Does anyone have Italian recommendations?

Emotionally exhausted

On the way home from a funeral in Kentucky, I got the phone call that my aunt Marian wasn't doing well. I was 3 hours from St. Louis and obviously felt helpless. I found out 10 minutes later that she passed away.

I got home at about 10 pm and drove over to where my aunt lived. I stayed with my family and grandma and finally got home around midnight.

When I crawled into bed, Mike told me that his uncle had also passed away that night. What a horrible and exhausting day....

I will definitely be going to sleep early tonight as I have a long weekend ahead.

Thanks!

I am so happy about all of the positive feedback about the calligraphy.

Don't worry ladies...
those samples that Mike made up...those aren't real addresses! He popped those out of his head. The one that was taken from stlwed...she already posted them on the internet so she was ok with that being out in the cyber world, as well. But I will remove them just in case!

If you are interested in calligraphy for wedding, showers, or any occasion, please email lmccalligraphy@yahoo.com

Thanks everyone!!! Mike wants to name each of the styles after streets in Kirkwood. We will see what the final verdict is!

New Calligraphy Styles

Our little calligraphy business is picking up so we decided that adding new options would be a good idea. We also need to come up with names for them. Here they are... (Please note, I am NOT a photographer so the pictures aren't the best.)What do you think?

Frison Flea Market

On Saturday, Mike and I headed downtown to check out the Frison Flea Market to check out their selection of faux purses.

Let this be said...I am not one that needs expensive things. I have never been interested in having a nice car. I do not own one piece of high-end jewelry (other than my wedding ring), and I am just not one to spend a huge amount of money on clothes, shoes, or purses. I appreciate all of these things, and I lust after all of them...BUT, I can never get myself to spend the big bucks on them.

Lately, I have been wanting a new black purse. I have been carrying the same, old Limited black purse for years and it is time for a change. Most of my friends have beautiful Coach purses and I have been thinking of splurging lately. However, when I stepped into the Frison Flea Market, everything changed. Imagine hundreds of people and thousands of purses, wallets, shoes, and other random junk.

OK...on to my purchases...
My black "Coach" purse and matching wallet...I also picked up a "Dolce and Gabbana" purse and wallet (not because they are good knock-off but just because I thought the purse was cute!).Again, I don't claim that they are real and I don't care that they are fake. They are cute, new, and I got them all for under $90 total!

:(

Can't think of a good and appropriate title for this post. I have a couple posts that are scheduled to come out tonight and tomorrow and I need to post this before they come up on my blog. A friend of mine is going through a very hard time right now and any thoughts and prayers are fully appreciated. I am going to keep details to myself, out of respect for her and her family. However, I can't allow mindless posts about purses and calligraphy on my blog without mentioning a serious situation that has occurred. At times like this, I feel lucky to have such a close group of friends.

Happy Birthday, Mike!

Today, my hunny turns the big 2-7! We started the day with cinnamon rolls for breakfast, then I gave him his gift (new golf shoes). We took a nice long walk around the area and now we are going to the golf range (seriously, this might be the only day of the year that he can get me to go without kicking and screaming). Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday!

Spring Break has begun!

Today is my first day of spring break! So far, I have:
-caught up on my DVR'ed shows (Greys, Brothers and Sisters, Idol, and Oprah)

There are so many thing that I want to get done this week...and #1 is to clean and get organized! I feel like I have crap everywhere in this house!

Sunday is Mike's birthday and we will be celebrating until next Wednesday! Tonight we are going to El Scorcho in Maplewood, tomorrow I am taking Mike out for his birthday dinner, Sunday we have a family party, Tuesday we will go to Dogtown for St. Pats, and Wednesday his parents are taking us out for a fun night! Busy busy!

AND...I still have a headache from last night's events.

I love shoes!

Seriously, look at the 6 (yes 6) pairs of shoes I bought last weekend!Mike and I hit up the Mills Mall last weekend. I love to go there every once and a white to hit up the Banana, Gap, and Nine West outlet stores. The Old Navy store there isn't an outlet but come on...their prices are so great, they don't need an outlet!

I love getting sandals from Old Navy. These shoes were only $12.50 each! Then I popped over to Nine West and this is where the problem began. They had a buy one, get one 50% off sale. I knew that I needed a new pair of black pumps (they ended up being $27 because they were half off!) I always get their Freda pumps and I love them! I also needed a new pair of wedge sandals for summer and saw these little cuties! Finally, their boots were on sale. I saw a cute suede, flat boot that was on sale for $40! Of course, there was only 1 pair in a size 5. So I ordered the brown and black in my size and they shipped them from other stores for free! Now I need to decide which color to keep...or maybe both?!
That is it...I love shoes.

Interview Questions

This has been going around for a month or so and I finally decided to join in. Nikki over at The Wishes and the Glitches sent me some interview questions so I am going to do my best to answer them.

1. What does your life look like, 10 years from now?
In 10 years, I would like to feel the exact same as I do right now. Mike and I will still be as happy as ever and enjoying life to the fullest. We will (hopefully and G-d willing) have 2 children and I pup (or two). We will definitely be living in St. Louis...not sure if we will still be in Kirkwood, Chesterfield, or maybe Creve Coeur. I am sure that Mike will still be doing graphic design and I will still be teaching. I would love to still be teaching in my current district and school. (Pretty boring, huh?)
2. What was your favorite toy, or item, as a kid?
When I was a kid, I was obsessed with musicals on video cassette. My favorites: Annie, Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, and The Wizard of Oz.Watching these movies at such a young age sculpted me into the musical nerd I am today. My mom says that she used to pop one of these movies in and I would sit and watch the entire thing, without making a noise or bothering anyone! I love musicals to this day and still have a dream of being on Broadway.

3. You're a celebrity. What's on your list of 'dressing room demands?'
Ohhh...that is a hard one. I guess it depends on what kind of celebrity I am. If it has anything to do with singing, I would definitely need bottled water and a various assortment of tea. Any other type of celebrity, bring on the alcohol....preferably red wine and dirty martinis... I would want huge vases full of white hydrangeas... Not going to lie, I would want my computer too...
Oh, and Baked Cheddar and Sour Cream Lays...

4. Wet the toothbrush or brush dry with the toothpaste?
Brush dry? People do that? Hummm...I have never heard of that! I always wet my toothbrush before applying the toothpaste and brushing my teeth.

5. What were you doing, at this exact time, yesterday?
Last night at 8:00 pm, I was eating dinner with my family at Schneithorst's. Each Sunday, Mike and I meet my mom and dad, sister and brother (if they are in town), and my grandma at a restaurant around town. It has been a great tradition that we started last year. Family has always been very important to me and I truly cherish every Sunday spent with the ones I love.
Thanks Nikki! If anyone wants me to send interview questions for your blog, just leave a comment and your email address!
