Vacation
I discussed that due to our lacking funds, we would not be spending a week in Napa. BUT...thanks to our AWESOME projected tax return, we are thinking about doing our European vacation this summer instead of next summer! Our destination of choice? ITALY!
We definitely would like to visit Rome...
Maybe Florence...
Of course, Venice...
I used to be obsessed with the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun" and I would dream about finally seeing a place like this. Ohhh Tuscany...
I don't even know where to start when planning on oversea adventure. I guess we could call our travel agent. Does anyone have Italian recommendations?
Cinque Terre on the northern coast. A little out of the way but TOTALLY worth it. It was by far my favorite place outside of Sevilla.

wow, an italy trip would be SO amazing! as far as advice on how to get planning, when kevin and i did our ireland honeymoon, i planned everything myself based on 1) tips from friends who had traveled/lived there, and 2) TRIPADVISOR.com. i first figured out which cities were priority to visit, then found B&Bs & places to visit within each city based on what was top rated on tripadvisor, and based on photos/descriptions people posted. that site has so much super helpful info.
as for italy specifically, my best friend has visited the country numerous times and even lived in venice last spring, you can check out her blog here: http://a-venezia.blogspot.com/, and if you want i'd be happy to give you her email address, she would be awesome at giving you tips for which places to visit, how to get around, etc etc. she visited quite a lot of places and would have great ideas, especially on venice. she knows that place like the back of her hand and loves to talk about it! rome is her fave though and she could impart a LOT of useful tips on rome, too.
in my honest opinion, i wouldn't even mess with a travel agent. just do some research online and ask friends, and piece together your own personalized vacation. it worked wonderfully for my ireland trip, it turned out to be an amazing time.
happy planning to you!
I've been to Rome and we were supposed to go to Venice, too, but were too hungover to make that trip. Whoops. You could spend a whole week in Rome, though. Have fun! Did you find decent plane tickets? I feel like all European tickets are SO freaking expensive these days.....way worse than a few years ago.
That sounds amazing! We want to go to Europe in the next few years, too. It will be great to see your recommendations.
Mmmmmm...Italy. DH and I both want to take a trip there. That will definitely be our next big trip. So fun!!
CINQUE TERRE! I haven't commented before, but this is a must. I've been almost all over Italy and it is the most BEAUTIFUL spot I've ever seen. I also loved Tuscany. If you go to Cinque Terre, stay in Vernazza...you will love it!
i went to Italy for Spring Break in 2002 - awesome time and by far my favorite trip!
i love Roma and Florence! My favorite was Venice by far. I stay 2 extra days in Venice on the trip b/c there was so much to see.
Get Rick Steve's book on Italy. That is the first place to start!
