Hubby is not a happy camper

A couple of weeks ago, Mike decided to take a half day today so AT&T could come and connect our U-Verse. (Side note, we canceled Charter because they upped our bill and weren't willing to compromise on price.)

Because of the snow, Mike decided to take off the whole day because it would be silly to deal with the roads for just a few hours of work. AT&T was supposed to start installation (that generally takes 4-6 hours) between 12 and 2. Fast forward 6 hours and we are still here...no AT&T. No calls to tell us they were running late or not coming. That equals for a pretty pissed of hubby. Oh...add in getting the run around from customer service. Not fun.

We tried to keep ourselves busy. We ran errands to Lowe's and Target. Mike shoveled and I did laundry! I love taking pictures of snow :) They didn't plow our street all day though. Here is the view out of our front door this morning.I think we got about 8-10 inches total! Our cabinet handles are in which was pretty exciting. Now I am just grading away! I wasted yesterday and I really need to get work done tonight. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) our cable is disconnected so we won't be watching TV. It will only be a matter of time before the internet goes too. While we are waiting, we are watching "X Men 2" and may or may not be playing Rock Band tonight. Oh...we watched "Eagle Eye" last night and it was pretty good.

I wish I had my wedding pictures. How's that for a random post?! Back to grading my students' memoirs :) Fun, fun!

Jessica Fat?

Seriously, people? Jessica Simpson is fat?

I usually don't blog too much about celeb gossip but this is just absurd. Recently, Jessica was caught wearing this hideous and unflattering outfit.Yes, she definitely looks like she has gained weight. But think about where she was? She was like a size 0!!!That weight wasn't normal either (although she looked pretty damn hot). She worked her butt off to get that lean!

She got a man, got comfortable, and put on some lbs. I did it too. I think most women do!

Leave her alone!

It is still coming down!

Mike and I just ran to Lowes for cabinet handles and dinner and the snow definitely picked up! It was pretty slow all day today and then suddenly started dumping down again at 5:30!Here's our table last night when the snow began...This morning, not much had happened yet...And now tonight! Much, much more snow :)YAY! I just got the news that I don't have to go to work tomorrow. That is our district's last snow day so if we have more inclement weather, we have to add days onto the schedule. Oh well :)

Lazy Snow Day

Mike and I have been wanting to spent a "Sunday Funday" together for awhile. What is a Sunday Funday? It is a day where we sleep in and hang out in our pajamas all day. It is a wonderful kind of day that we don't get to do too often.

Since today was a snowday, we slept until 11! I haven't done that in a long time! Once we were awake, we temporarily changed out of our pjs and went to Spencer's Grill (a little diner down the street) for some breakfast. It was delish!

Then back to the house for lounging around, a little bit of cleaning, and movie watching. I am watching 27 Dresses right now.Last night, we watched Pineapple Express. Mike thought it was hilarious but I fell asleep (of course). What did you think of the Bachelor last night? Man, did it totally dodge a bullet last night. He let go all of the girls I hate!

Lauren was just being a bossy bia. Wasn't a fan. She thought by telling Jason that she had to get the rose, she would magically get one. No way.Shannon has been a nut since day one. She started crying in a scene that was like Fatal Attraction. She was so desperate when she started begging for him to keep her. And when she grabbed him to kiss him. Gross. OH...and when she said she was going to French kiss her dog?!Megan was just a big b!tch. She truly thought she was going to win. Some girls are so delusional!OK...back to the movie...

Kitchen Hiatus

We are taking a break from the kitchen right now. Everything is finished and ready to go except for the counters and backsplash. We had to order the tiles and they won't be in until this weekend. Mike's brother will be out of town next week so Mike is going to wait until he gets back to finish. Here is what we chose for granite and backsplash tiles. The goal was to be finished by Feb 1st but we got a little bit behind. We won't have people over for Super Bowl like we wanted but we will debut our kitchen sometime soon. Mike and I thought about having his birthday celebration at the house. We will see :) Stay warm, friends!

The Secret is Out

I wasn't able to spill my secret until all involved people were notified. However, I was very amused by your guesses. No, I am not pregnant...thanks Kate. No, I didn't get a dog or my wedding pictures (was that what you were guessing, Amy?).

I am excited to say that I am going to be a bridesmaid in my friend, Tess', wedding. I wrote about their recent engagement a couple of months ago! Tess was my first roommates in the Gamma Phi Beta house at Mizzou. If I had a scanner at home, I could definitely post some crazy (and probably inappropriate pictures of Tess and I). Oh wait.....I have an idea!!!

So I just took some pictures of my shotbook! I haven't looked at it in FOREVER! What a great trip down memory lane!College pictures just crack me up. Most of the time, I think "what am I wearing?" or "who was doing my makeup and hair?"

OK...back to Tess' wedding. Tess and Kevin were engaged in October and are getting married on August 29, 2009. As discussed before, Tess and Kevin are getting married on our 1 year anniversary weekend (our anniversary is August 31st). They have booked our photographers Michael and Lajuanna Browers and I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful day!

YAY!

Goodbye, Hello

Goodbye, ol' Mazda. We will miss you. You are the car that drove us on our first date. The car where we shared our first kiss. We are excited to have you in our lives. You will be the car that drives us into our future. You will drive our children around. You will move us into a new home someday. You will drive our future dog to the vet.Hello, automatic transmission. Hello, "butt warmers" that heat up in less than 5 minutes. Hello 13 speaker sound system. Welcome to the family :)Quite the sentimental post over a car, huh?!

I knew it!***Grey's Spoiler***

More than a month ago, I guessed that Izzy was seeing Denny because she was sick. I guessed brain tumor because I read somewhere that they were killing of a main character. Now, my prediction was not completely confirmed tonight but we are definitely headed in that direction.

I hope I am right :) I looked up my prediction online and found this. We will see if it unfolds the way I guessed.

Ohhh...I shouldn't have mentioned the secret earlier. I am not "with child" as my friend, Kate, suggested. I tried to edit the post but Google Reader don't edit your posts. Annoying..

Exciting Changes!

Mike bought a car! A 2004 Volvo S60! He is really excited so I am excited for him. The dealer is going to tint the windows tomorrow before Mike picks it up.He has been talking about getting a new car for awhile and I guess has been looking while on his lunch breaks. I can't drive a stick so an automatic was definitely needed:) YAY!

The kitchen is also moving along quite nicely. Of course there are a lot of tiny things to be done but the only major part is to do the countertops. Check out that crown molding!Have a great Thursday night! I am looking forward to watching Grey's and relaxing on the couch. My in-laws are coming over with sloppy joes for us tonight. YUMMY:)

Republican or Democrat

If you weren't moved today, you might not have a heart. What an amazing day! I watched my students as they stared at the TV this morning with smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes. They cheered and clapped as they watched their new president take the oath and put his hand on the same bible as Abraham Lincoln.

Wow...Wow...Wow...

Random thoughts after a longggg weekend.

Most of the weekend was filled with funeral things. Sunday, we spent most of the day at the funeral home for the visitation. Then, we stuffed our faces with a delicious meal at Macaroni Grill. Today the funeral was held and then again, we ate a lot of food afterward. I think I may have gained a few pounds this weekend.

Funerals and death are just so sad and they really put life in perspective for you. And although Mike's grandma lived a very full life of 93 years, it still doesn't help the feeling of loss the family feels. It is really strange that today at the funeral, for the first time ever, I thought about getting pregnant earlier than planned. I want to be young parents and our parents to be young grandparents. It really got me thinking. By the time I got to the car, I had already dismissed the idea and Mike agreed. Back to the 3 year plan for us.

Before the funeral schedule kicked in, we enjoyed an evening out on Saturday night. I started the night at Ali's house (not my sister) for Girls Night Out. GNO is a monthly get-together of my Stlwed/blogging friends. I think there have been 6 or 7 of these shindigs but this was only my 2nd one that I have been able to attend. It really is amazing to meet such nice people that are so different but so much the same. After the GNO, I met up with Mike and a bunch of friends at my old roommate's house for a night of Wii Olympics. We were celebrating Nick's 31st and we had a great time! I don't have any pictures but it was a blast. We didn't leave until about 3 AM. Let's just say that I am amazing at bowling and boxing!

I am so so excited for Inauguration Day tomorrow. I will be watching it with my class. Such a wonderful day for the country :) Just can't wait!!!I think my wedding pictures will be posted in the next couple of weeks. My photographer told me they would be ready by the end of January and there are only 2 more weddings ahead of me. Cross your fingers that we get them soon!

Oh, and I am still addicted to my new nail polish, You Don't Know Jacques. (These are not my nails...I typed the name into the Google Search and this pic came up first!)
The kitchen is moving right along. We are struggling finding granite countertops that we can afford. We are going to do tiles but still can't find where to buy them without a contractor.

I think that is it for my random posts tonight. Very very tired. I am looking forward to a happy hour with my friends tomorrow at Ice and Fuel. I have never been there before and it is right up the street! Good night...I am exhausted!!!

Kitchen Progress

The boys have been working hard on the kitchen. Since my last post, the floors has been grouted (is that a word...grouted?), upper cabinets have been hung, and the microwave has been installed. I am so proud of the work they have done.

An action shot of Chris laying down the grout...I thought I would make give this to Mike's mom for her birthday...The new tiles! This was the blank wall above the stove...We are going to have so much room!!! I am so excited!
