Busy Bee...

What a month May has been! I knew it would be crazy busy but I think it even took me off gaurd. What did we do this month?

1. We went to Arkansas for a weekend to see Mike's little brother graduate. We had a beautiful lakehouse in Buena Vista, Arkansas and it was wonderful. We visited him earlier this year and went to a football game. Those hog fans are crazy!
2. The following weekend, Mike was second-shooting his first wedding in Columbia, and I was spending the day with great friends celebrating a wonderful occasion. We were supposed to all participate in Bark in the Park but it was pouring all morning so Mia and I didn't go. Instead, I went straight to Forest Park. Our great friends, Kate and Peter were getting engaged, in the rain, and we were waiting with a huge BBQ to celebrate. The rain didn't damper the mood or the day...it was such a happy celebration and no one minded getting soaked. Here are a couple of my pictures from the day.Me and Kate right after the engagement in the rain!Under tarp enjoying the party! All of my friends with the happy couple! It really was amazing because some friends come in town from New York, Chicago, and Florida just to celebrate with Kate and Peter. They are special people, I tell you!We ended the all-day celebration at Tom's Bar and Grill with some karaoke. Mike even joined us and drove straight from the wedding in Columbia. Congrats Kate and Peter. We really couldn't be happier for you two. LOVE YOU!

3. I "graduated" the next day. I didn't actually walk but I celebrated with a lot of family members with a BBQ at my parents house. It was perfect and I am so glad to be done!
4. I had a couple of crazy weeks finishing report cards and the school year. The last day of school was MY BIRTHDAY! Seriously, what a great way to celebrate a birthday. This year, marked my 27th year of life. I'm not going to lie. 27 actually felt different to me. No longer the mid-20s but now the late 20s. I can't really explain it but I think I finally understood why adults don't necessarily look forward to birthdays. Getting older is a part of life and blablabla, I just couldn't help feeling a little different about this one. But don't worry, that didn't mean I wasn't going to celebrate. Wednesdays are home to $5 buckets at the Bar Louie across the street so we were there! Not sure why the pictures are blurry but where are a couple with my friends and mom and my hunny.5. Since my birthday on the 26th, I have been eating, and eating, and eating. Seriously, it is gross. We have eaten every meal out since last Sunday! I guess that is what happens during your birthday week, huh!? Yesterday, we took a break from the eating to run a 5k in Forest Park. Man, it was hard...and uphill...and HOT! It wasn't our best run but we are alive. We are going to run Beca's Five in a few weeks so you should sign up too! It is a great cause and benefit's Beca and her fight for her life against melanoma.

6. Now that it is summer, I get to look forward to going HERE!May was a fantastic month! A month of happy endings, new beginnings, and wonderful life transitions and accomplishments.

Weddings, weddings, weddings...

The first year Mike and I were together, we attended 12 weddings together. Since then, we have only gone to 1 or 2 weddings a year. Due to the past couple of months, it seems like 2009 is going to have a few weddings! I mentioned Tess and Kevin and Stevie and Matt. Then I remembered our friends, Rob and Michelle. Hey, since I posted StudioB! pictures of the other newly engaged couples, I thought I may as well put theirs up too!Oh...and Leslie is getting married in 2 weeks from Saturday! AHHHH! I thought they deserved a StudioB picture too :)Is it bad that I want to get married again? To Mike, of course!I want the rest of my wedding pictures too! Patience, I tell myself...patience :)

Stevie!

Stevie and I have been friends since we were 10 years old. Our friendship has taken us from Elementary Poms, voice lessons, and show choir to Gamma Phi, Mizzou, and now marriage!

Tonight, Stevie and I went to practice "The Prayer," which is a song we are singing in Leslie's wedding in a couple of weeks. She was in a little bit of a hurry to get home to her boyfriend who closed on his new house today. She arrived at the new house to a candle-light dinner and proposal and I am SO SO excited for her (and him)!

If you read my comments from yesterday's blog post, Stevie mentioned getting married "some day." Girl, did you know it was coming?!?! I am so so happy for you Stevie and Matt! Congratulations and lots of love!***Single girls BEWARE. The wedding bug has bitten again*** YOU may be next :)

Congrats Tess and Kevin!

Tonight, one of my friends (and bridesmaid) got engaged! Her birthday was actually yesterday but she celebrated at our housewarming party! Today, she and her boyfriend (now fiance) went skydiving. He planned a surprise birthday party for her tonight at her family owned bar in Soulard. Here is is walking into the room! SURPRISE...Let's rewind...
About 2 weeks ago, Kevin called me asking for my help. He wanted me to "round up the troops" and let everyone know that he was throwing her a surprise birthday party. Of course, I knew that he was going to propose. I called of the the girls and we were all on the double secret party. It was so hard to keep the secret from her. I just had to avoid her. She even mentioned that I barely talked to her last night at our party. I was just too nervous that I would slip.

Ok...back to tonight. For about 2 hours, everyone went along with the surprise birthday party thing. Finally, he stood up on the bar, called her to join him...and the rest is history :)My favorites...With all of the love in the air, I couldn't help but be completely smitten with my little hunny! The bride and groom-to-be were surrounded with friends and family but when it was my turn, I got a few great pictures!Check out her beautiful ring...Congrats to the happy couple! We are so excited for you! LOVE YOU!

Neglect...

Almost 10 days since my last post!!! WHOA!!! Last week was super crazy so here is the update!
*My cheerleaders had their last games last week! Friday was the official last game and I am so EXCITED to have a little time off. But we are now preparing for our upcoming tryouts on March 13th!
*I participated in a marketing research panel. I got paid $200 to read Real Simple Weddings and give my opinions! I decided that I am going to use my $200 toward a real wedding planner. I met with Sabrina Torti last night and I am meeting with Alison White on Thursday.*Valentine's Day was awesome! We ate at a wonderful restaurant called Savor. It was just delicious...and I definitely got a little tipsy off our our champagne and bottle of wine. We decided not to do presents this year and instead, treat our friends and family with StudioB at our wedding. Although my parents are completely taking on the financial portion of our wedding, we are trying to contribute with some of the "extras" that we want, but aren't necessary. Thanks Julia!!! *And finally, the most exciting thing that we have done in the past 10 days is.....HOUSE HUNTING!!! YEA!!! We saw 6 houses on Saturday and 6 houses on Sunday. This is so much fun but stressful! We have a while but we definitely need to be in a house by the end of May (Mike's lease is up). It is just so crazy to think that we will have our own house in just a few months. WOW! We are looking again this weekend so I will keep you all posted.

*OH WAIT...how can I forget...my best friend, Leslie, got engaged on Saturday night:) About 2 years ago, I was living with Leslie and Mike needed a roommate. I told him to ask his friend from work (Christian) so he did. Mike and Christian had lived together for 6 months when we decided to play matchmaker. Leslie was single and so was Christian so why not?!?! Well now, after a year and a half of dating, Christian popped the questions! Here are some pics of us at Lucas Park celebrating after the big "YES"!!!Leslie crying when she saw her parents!
Bling, Bling
The happily engaged boys/roommates!

CONGRATS LESLIE AND CHRISTIAN! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!
