Happy Anniversary to us...

YAY! We made it through September! We have been looking forward to our one-month anniversary so we could dig in to the top tier of our wedding cake! It was also an excuse to have a romantic night together! I got home early from work so I decided to set the table, light some candles, and put that Crate and Barrel cake holder to use (Mike swore that we would never use it).Cute, huh? Check out all of the thank you notes/addresses/stamps in the corner! Those of you that know me KNOW that I don't cook! BUT...I am trying really hard and I am pretty proud of myself! I made a baked pasta, garlic bread, and steamed asparagus. Of course, we had to drink some champagne so it was nice to pull out the wedding flutes, as well!I was pretty surprised that our cake still tasted wonderful. It is Lubeley's amaretto cake with raspberry filling. We only at 1/4 of it tonight. We are going to eat some more tomorrow and then share some with my parents on Thursday night! When did you eat the top tier of your wedding cake?

One Month Anniversary?

Mike and I decided to eat the top tier of our cake on our 1-month anniversary instead of our 1-year. We have heard from so many people that the cake isn't good after a year and is usually covered in freezer burn. We will try to save some of it that long but we are going to dig into the cake this week!

So here is my question...when should we celebrate our 1-month anniversary? We were married on August 31st, the last day of August. There isn't a 31st of September so when do we eat our cake? The last day of September (which is tomorrow)? Or October 1st (since it is one day after the 30th) which is kind of like September 31st?

What do you think? And why the heck is this a hard decision for me? Haha....I am a dork :)

Not too happy with Crate and Barrel right now!

So, today Mike was supposed to pick up our new china cabinet. Remember the Madison Buffet and Hutch that I have been swooning over?He arrived at the warehouse and it was closed. Apparently, it closes at 12 (on a Saturday?!). He was so angry that no one told us this and he called C&B to see what we are supposed to do. The woman on the phone then confirm that our china cabinet has actually never been ordered and isn't in the computer. Excuse me? It wasn't ordered? That is interesting since we paid hundreds of dollars for it and the transaction was processed!!! She told Mike and she would call him back but an hour later, we still haven't heard anything. I am beyond POed right now!!!

***EDIT***I just got off the phone with the woman/idiot at C&B. Apparently, she assumed that it would be shipped but something was wrong with the computer. We have the receipt and the information so we don't need to worry about that. Apparently the problem is the fact that there aren't hutches available...just the buffet. The computer shows that one hutch is being shipped to Chicago right now and they are not sure if it is our or not. I guess all of the C&B warehouses are closed on Saturdays so the lady can't call and figure the situation out. Soooo...we have to wait until Monday to figure out if we are getting the one on the way to Chicago or we have to "return it" (because it is paid for) and get another one. My issue is...DON'T SELL PEOPLE SOMETHING THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE! Grrrr.... (still fuming)! We are having 2 parties in October and I was set on the fact that we would have this furniture. AHHHHHHHHHH!

StudioB!

For those of you that don't know (have you been under a rock or something?), StudioB! is the most fun thing that you can add to a reception! It is a photobooth without the booth. A white screen, camera, printer, projector + loving friends and family + alcohol = SO MUCH FUN!

My awesome photographers, the Browers, came up with this wonderful idea and it is taking weddings by storm! It sure was a hit at our wedding! I thought it would be fun to put some of my favorite pictures from the night!

My beautiful ladies...How cute is Mike's priest? The message in our guestbook said "Don't punch your wife, punch your friends." Thanks guys :) Mothers/Daughters and friends forever... Me with some groomsmen...My amazing family! I LOVE YOU!I think this might be a StudioB record! I think I counted 23! My dad's side of the family!Hilarious of the guys! I love how our boyfriends/husbands are such great friends too! Mike's amazing family! I love you all too!!!Thought this one was awesome of my cousin and her husband (after a few drinks)! My brother's 21st birthday was the same day as our wedding. He is 21 (if you couldn't see his fingers)! Happy birthday, Andrew...hope you enjoyed your party! I know you enjoyed the open bar!My dream team... (Kristal, were you in that first picture?)The last pictures of the evening! And GOOD NIGHT!

Thank You!

WOW...138 views and 30 comments! So there are still 108 of you out there that didn't comment but hey, thanks for those that did! (If you haven't commented, go ahead...introduce yourself! I would love to hear from you!) It is so nice to meet you and see how you found my blog! I also added a bunch of you to my Google Reader list! A bunch of people mentioned that you found me through My Life in Transition. YAY Julia! No one mentioned Kristal's blog Good Food, Good Friends, Good Life because according to my Google Analytics, the most referrals come from her site (sorry Julia, you are a close second place)!

I can't help but wonder who are the other 78 people? My students? Their parents? My cheerleaders? Their parents? Ex-boyfriends? Their girlfriends/wives? I am sure that the answer is less glamorous (and scary) but I really am curious!

Happy Friday night! I am watching the presidential debates! I love this stuff!

Anyone out there?

So, between yesterday and today, 108 people viewed my blog. How many comments? BIG, FAT ZERO! That is ok...there isn't always a need to comment. But it got me thinking...
Who are the 95-150 people that read my blog each day? How did they find my blog?

Before my wedding, the most visits in one day was 89! My new record is 147! How did all of these new people find my blog in the last 3 weeks?

So please...take a minute to step out of Google Reader and your comfort zone and tell me:
1.) Who are you and where are you from?
2.) How did you find my blog?
3.) What is your zodiac sign? (though I'd throw something random in there for fun)

I'll start... I am Lauren, I am from St. Louis, and I am a Gemini. If you don't have a blog, no fear...you can still comment! You don't even need gmail! Come on...the curiosity is killing me!

Party Time

After pictures, it was time to party!!! Up the elevator we went... ...and we were greeted with champagne!Thankfully, my cousin and friends took some pictures of what the tables looked like before everyone arrived! Guest tables...
Head table...Our coordinator, Sabrina, spent most of the day decorating our reception room. She hung all of the lights and draping and lit tons of candles along the windowsills. I thought the room looked wonderful!

The bridal party was announced and finally....the bride and groom! Here we are bustin' a move! After the wonderful speeches by my sister, our best man, and my dad, it was time to cut the cake and do our first dance!By this point, my darling, new husband had stepped on my dress about 10 times and completely ripped out my bustle. We tried to pin it but it never looked quite right! Later in the evening, I got to dance with my daddy... (please notice the "bustle"...uck...)After our delicious dinner... (love the drapings in this picture)it was time to schmooze with the guests, talk to friends, and hit the dancefloor!I shouldn't be laughing. It isn't funny. He has a sweating problem...The whole night went by in a flash and suddenly it was time to go! I quickly ditched my wedding dress for something a little more comfortable. We decided that we wanted to continue celebrating with out family and friends before heading back to the hotel. We had a little surprise waiting for us as we left Windows off Washington! My sister and brother surprised us with a horse and carriage get-away! It was so exciting!Such a grand get-away! I loved it! It was such a wonderful and thoughtful surprise...and a perfect way to have some alone time and come down from the "high" we had been experiencing all day! I had the driver take a picture...of course :)My cousin even drove by and snapped an action shot!Such a wonderful ending to a wonderful day! Up next...StudioB!

We got a grill!

Tonight at 8:15, Mike decided that he wanted to go to Home Depot. Some of my parents' friends got us a giftcard for us to use on a new grill. At 8:15, I wanted to get in my pajamas, relax, talk, and blog. He wanted a grill.

After much debate, I decided that he would be the main person using the grill so he was capable enough to get it on his own. He just got home and I just had to snap a picture of him with his first, brand, new grill! And of course, he has to assemble it RIGHT NOW! At almost 9:30 PM! Really? Are we going to grill tonight? Funny boys!
