The Mustache Chronicles

So here we go! Mike is now T minus 2 days until he completely shaves everything on his face but the 'stache. Here are some pictures to see how this transformation has been coming along. First example...Friday night. We head out to Roxanne's in Clayton for a friends birthday and the goatee makes quite an impression. One of my friends whispered to another, "Not to be rude or anything, but why does Mike have a mustache?" People are curious, maybe confused and frightened. What are your thoughts and feelings?Fast forward to Sunday evening, actually Easter evening for Mike. He decides that after a lovely Greek dinner prepared by his parents, maybe it is time for a little mustache makeover. I hear the clippers down the hall and run to see what is happening. Well, let's say that there are two vertical lines now shaved out of the goatee. Please observe...Today is Tuesday and I was just blessed to see the newest variation of the facial hair. We now have lost the long, middle stripe and now have (your favorite and mine)...the soul patch (I think?!). I guess it isn't a soul patch alone...we still have the handlebar 'stache (kinda... see how it doesn't really attach...hehehe).Now ladies, there is a difference with this last picture. No, not just the facial hair...but the attitude...the cockiness. He actually posed for this picture. He wanted his mustache glory to be posted on the World Wide Web. Please stay tuned for our next installment. I believe that there will be an update tomorrow (I think that handlebars are going to go...I HOPE!!!)

Need to catch-up...

I totally need to do some catch-up here on my blog. I feel like I have so many things to write about. Crazy weekend activities, new mustache pictures, wedding details, and I think that I am going to do a "spotlight of the week" thing like Julia did! However, I just got home from the Cards game and I am exhausted! I will try to catch-up on everything tomorrow night!!!

Tux Questions...

So, most of our wedding planning is finished. Honestly, I haven't done ANYTHING in a while! However, something that we did do recently was pick out the guys tuxes. We decided on Men's Warehouse and a 2-button jacket and a satin vest. We are going to purchase the groomsmen green ties that match the bridesmaid dresses. Our fathers and ushers will wear a black tie and Mike will wear all white. Here is what he did in photoshop...What do you think? We don't really like the look of colored vests but does it look strange with a colored tie and black vest? Do most guys wear satin vests? Help a girl out...

Oh...and by the way...I have a new record for posts! 53 YESTERDAY...movin' on up....!!!

Most visitors ever!

I guess some StlWed drama is good for the blog. The most visitors that I have ever had in one day was when I posted about Mike's facial hair. I told him that he is so popular...I had 43 visitors that day!!! I was so excited (although I know that isn't a lot for many of professional bloggers)!!! So yesterday, all I had to do was post a picture of some girls that I don't even know and guess what...47 views!!! Hey hey hey...I am moving up in the blogging world. What do I have to do next? I really want to break 50 views! Julia (and others), what is your secret for blogging success???

Fun Weekend (Part 2..Saturday and Sunday)

I guess Saturday wasn't really much fun now that I am thinking about it. I didn't get up on time and I ended up speeding all of the way from my house to Chesterfield. Luckily I wasn't too late but I wasn't able to change or shower. Therefore, I was still covered with wine and probably didn't look or smell nice. Getting to sleep at 4:30 am and waking up at 8:15 am just isn't enough for me. So after a delish lunch at MickyD's, I took an awesome nap. Later that night, I went to my grandma's to celebrate Passover with my family. I love my family so much! I always have such a great time when we are all together!!! Ended up getting home at about 11ish that night and just went to sleep!!!

Finally, Sunday morning! Let me start by saying that I never in a million years would think that I would do what I did on Sunday. When I joined StlWed, I told myself (and my mom and Mike) that I would never go to a GTG (get together). However, I have been on there for about 8 months now, I really started to feel like I "know" a lot of the girls. Blogging (another thing that I never thought I would do) also made me feel like these people are my friends. Ha, this sounds so funny! Anyways, I met a bunch of them at brunch on Sunday morning and had a great time!Back row- right to left: Stephanie, Jen, Christie, Ame (up top), Julia, Bridget, Donna, and Teresa.
Front row- right to left: Meghan, Mary, Kristal, Me, and Amber

Definitely had a great time! It is such a surreal feeling to talk to people that you have never met about things in their lives or in your life, and everyone knows all about it. I have always been a person that is content with my friends and never wanted to make new ones. Although I am still content with my friends and love them to bits, it is nice to meet people that I would have never met before. Especially when we have so much in common. I hope to do it again!

Fun Weekend (Part 1...Friday)...

Ok...I found my USB! Now I can post AND include pictures!

Wow, did this weekend start with a BANG (or rumble)!!! I woke Mike up at 4:40 am as my bed was shaking like crazy and all of my things were rattling. So many people thought it was the wind, or the washing machine, or the neighbors...nope, not me. I knew it was an earthquake...and it scared the crap out of me. I couldn't fall back asleep because I kept thinking it would happen again! I think I probably ended up falling asleep but my alarm went off at 6 so it couldn't have been for long! I said goodbye to Mike as I left for work and he left to go to Miami for the weekend for his work.

After a long, exhausting, and rainy Friday, I went to the Cardinals game with some girlfriends. My friend, Kate's, awesome boyfriend, Peter, works for the Cardinals and had a box! So much fun!!! I was really looking forward to the free hotdogs and nachos and somehow I ended up missing them. Definitely drank too much to realize how hungry I was...well, until all of the food was put away! Here are some fun pictures of the night...Next stop, Lumiere. It was my friend, Christian's, birthday so we went to celebrate. Check out this...Mike and Christian are roommates and work together. Mike and I set Christian up with my best friend, Leslie. A year and a half later...they got engaged! WOO HOO...I think we should be professional matchmakers. Anyways...we had a great time at Lumiere. Again, didn't gamble, just hung out in the bar (figures huh...).

Next stop, Lucas Park. My roommate, Mike (not my fiance...one of our groomsmen), promised to meet some more friends so we danced the night away until about 3ish. I was dancing and enjoying a glass of red wine, when a large man ran into my arm. Red wine flew through the air and landed on my head, dripped down my face and hair, and soaked my shirt. Cute huh...lucky, I wasn't feeling too much at this point.

Finally, we stop at Del Taco (duh) and I proceed to eat my taco and pass out on the coach (without setting my alarm to 7:45 for a cheerleading uniform sale)....awesome!!! AND THAT WAS ONLY FRIDAY!!!

Cancer sucks

Right now, that is all I can say! Cancer just sucks. I have been dealing with cancer in my family since my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer 17 years ago. It has been a terrible thing that I have unfortunately had to deal with more and more as I have grown up. My family members, family friends, friend's parents, and colleagues have dealt with this disease, fought it, and won or lost their fight. Everyone has a connection to cancer and knows someone that has dealt with it. I hate to have a negative attitude, but I feel like this is a realistic comment...I feel like almost everyone will fight some type of cancer some time in our lives. Hopefully, cures will be found and treatment will become easier and more accessible.

Right now, I am dealing with close members of my life that are within their own fight. My great aunt was just diagnosed with breast cancer. One of my best friend's mom is fighting leukemia. I just hate this! Also, through blogging, I learned of a young woman, Keri. She is a best friend and was a bridesmaid of my "internet friend," Julia. Here is what Julia posted on her blog:

Keri's story:
Sometimes life is so unfair. Keri is one of those people everyone loves to be around. Her charisma is undeniable and her positive attitude is contagious. Keri has always been a fighter, a leader, and a pillar of strength for those in her life.

She is a down-to-earth, true Mid-western girl who has called Kansas, Missouri, and Indiana home. As a Physical Therapist, she makes her living by caring for others, and now is the time for us to return the favor.

On March 14, 2008 Keri’s life changed forever. At the age of 26 she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. On April 2, 2008 she underwent a bilateral mastectomy and began her fight with a disease that knows no limits.

Her bright future is clouded with the cold hard facts: 8 rounds of chemotherapy, 6 weeks of daily radiation, multiple reconstructive surgeries, hormonal replacement therapy, and infertility treatments. When you attack cancer with chemotherapy and other estrogen suppressing drugs before you’ve had children, your dream of becoming a mother is jeopardized. Keri’s doctors have said her treatments will most definitely stop ovulation for the rest of her life, throwing her young body into menopause. So Keri will freeze her eggs to give her hope of having a baby—a procedure that comes with a $10,000 price tag but not covered by insurance.

Helen Keller once said, “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.” If everyone who reads Keri’s story contributes to her fund the financial burden of cancer could be lifted from her shoulders. Any amount would be greatly appreciated and every dollar counts. Why not make a difference in someone’s life? And what better time than right now?

Facial Hair...Hot or Not?!

Let me start by saying, I am not a big fan of facial hair. Even on my Hollywood boyfriends, I prefer their faces soft and shaved. Examples...Now, let me say, that I think my fiance is a very good looking man. Adorable all the way around...inside and out. Examples...So now, here we go...
Mike is going on his bachelor party in a couple of weeks. There is a huge jazz festival down in Memphis and 19 boys will be driving down to enjoy "Memphis in May." For some strange reason, our best man decided that a theme would be needed for this trip. I can think of a bunch of hilarious themes right now...but I would never have thought of the one that was chosen. Here we go...wait for it....wait for it....Mustaches in Memphis. Um, what now? Mustaches? My first through is WHAT THE *^@! Here are the images that suddenly popped into my mind...Um, ew. Mustaches just remind me of the '80 and creep pervs/child molesters/porn stars. Oh...and now my fiance. Right now he is sporting a goatee but soon, the chin hairs will go and the stache will stand alone. As of today, here is what he looks like...He is still cute, I think. But I really don't know if I can handle 3 more weeks of this. However, I have a funny feeling that I am not going to have to worry about my darling fiance getting hit on while in Memphis. Really ladies, think...would you approach a group of 19 mustached men? What is your take on facial hair? Hot or not? For me, I will definitely say NOT on my man!!!

Our first gift!

Something very exciting happened last week. As I was updating and working on our Crate and Barrel registry, I realized that something had been purchased. Who would have gotten us anything...we have not posted registry info on our website and we have not sent out shower invitations???? There are only a few people that know we have even created our registries (my mom, Mike's mom, and one of my bridesmaids, Leslie). So I KNEW it had to be one of them...sneaky, sneaky! So yesterday, Mike and I went to my parents' house and guess what was sitting on their porch....The excitement that filled my body the moment my eyes laid on this box is not describable. (Ohhh...by the way, we are having all of our girls sent to my parents house because it is much safer than our house on the corner of a busy road.) I am not sure about the rules of opening gifts before the wedding but I just wanted to know who it was from. Obviously, I knew what the gift was (it told me when I checked the registry online) but who?!?! We opened the box to find that it is an early wedding gift from my aunt and uncle in Reno, Nevada. I wasn't sure if this was an engagement gift but my mom called to find out that NO, it is our wedding gift...just 4 months early?! Interesting for sure but hey...WE GOT OUR FIRST WEDDING PRESENT!!!In case you are wondering, here is what is inside...a beautiful cake platter with dome and the Tristin Serving Bowl. WOO HOO!

Summer Vacations

I am really looking forward to this summer. Not only will I be getting married in August, but I am going to take the entire summer off!!! I have been working every summer since I was 16...first at Macaroni Grill (I believe from 1999-2005) and then at summer school. This summer, I have decided for my sanity, I am going to relax and enjoy my summer, for once! I have also decided NOT to take masters classes! WOO HOO!

Instead of working, I am going to go on vacations!

JUNE....First, I plan on going to Florida to visit my friend, Beth. We visited last year right after school ended and had a wonderful time!

JULY...Next, I will be going to Las Vegas for my bachelorette party! SO SO SO EXCITED! I have never been and neither have a bunch of my friends. This is the first time we will all go together and Vegas better be prepared! I can't wait...this is going to be amazing!!!

SEPTEMBER...Mike and I will be going on our honeymoon to Riviera Maya in Mexico. I can just hear the beach (and the unlimited cocktails) calling my name! We can't wait :)

I am in such a need for a vacation right now and these trips are keeping me going! This summer is going to be so much fun!

Maybe we should re-think this

That was the line that Mike emailed me along with this picture.Lynn posted a picture of her possible child on her blog with a link to this amazing site. His mouth, my nose, his eyes...I just don't understand what happened. We always hear how our children will be so cute... I guess he was right, maybe we should re-think this!

Tired but inspired

I am about to go to sleep but I just have to publicly say again, "I LOVE the Biggest Loser." It is the best show on television right now, in my opinion. I think about Tuesday nights all week waiting for this show! After I watched the first episode, I was shocked by one contestant, Ali. I talked about it months ago here. Well guess who is still on the show and in the lead...Miss Ali! She is freaking awesome! So far, she has lost 85 pounds. I don't know why the website doesn't have new pictures of the contestants each week but here are some pictures from last weeks episode. First, I will remind you where she started! And last week, she looked like this...Run, girl, run....It is just amazing to me!!! I think she could win the whole show!I swear, she almost weighs less than me! OHHHH...what I would give to have Jillian as my trainer. She is amazing...scary, but amazing! I kind of want to gain 100 pounds so I could join the show and meet her. Ha...ok, obviously that won't be happening...but I still think she rocks! This really makes me want to go to the gym. Maybe next week...
