Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season full of friends, family, and love. This year, we made our cards through Snapfish. I took charge of making the cards and Mike did the addressing of the envelopes. They looked great! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Weekend Raves

Just a few random things to share...
Last night, we celebrated my mom's birthday at a wonderful, new restaurant in St. Louis called Bravo! (located outside of the West County Mall). We loved the atmosphere (a lot like Brio...apparently they are owned by the same corporation), the staff, and our delicious meals. I would definitely go back again! We loved it! Happy birthday MOM!A few weeks ago, I signed up to go to Time For Dinner with my friend, Allison. This morning, I arrived and prepared some awesome meals. I made Bistro steaks with Dijon Brandy Sauce, Calypso Roast Pork, Parmesan Encrusted Chicken, Southwestern Lime Chicken, Stuffed Pork Tenderloin, and Twice Baked Potatoes. Here is the concept, you go to different stations and prepare this amazing meals. All of the ingredients are there for you, all of the measuring tools, bowls, and mixers. You just follow the directions and then pack the foods up to be put in your freezer. I haven't been this excited to eat dinner in a while! I will let you know the meals are as we eat them! This is such a great concept and I will definitely be going back here too! Check out my laundry basket of food! Finally, I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that we are working with a wonderful invitation vendor, Melinda at Paper Frosting. She is sending mailings to wedding coordinators in the area and Mike is doing calligraphy on her black envelopes with white ink. They look FABULOUS and I have to share. (These addresses are public information of companies that can me found online.)I need to get ready for a wedding tonight. It is at Moulin...another first!!!

Custom wedding invitations

Most of you know by now, I have a very talented hubby that designed and created our DIY wedding invitations. They were a labor of love and they were definitely worth the WEEKS of work we put into them!

When we started doing calligraphy on the side, I was contacted by a fellow bride and stlwed-er. She was starting her own company and wanted to know if she could refer her clients to us. OF COURSE!

She just launched her company and website and has wonderful samples of her custom invitations. The company is named Paper Frosting and she is now accepting clients. Here are some of my favorite invitations from her site:

Obviously, I am a damask fan...How sweet would this be for a baby or bridal shower luncheon?I am a big fan of the peacock feather...This is so cute for a bachelorette party...I really love envelope liners. They really add that finishing touch!Go check out her website! Melinda is so so sweet! Tell her that I sent ya ;)

Thanks!

I am so happy about all of the positive feedback about the calligraphy.

Don't worry ladies...
those samples that Mike made up...those aren't real addresses! He popped those out of his head. The one that was taken from stlwed...she already posted them on the internet so she was ok with that being out in the cyber world, as well. But I will remove them just in case!

If you are interested in calligraphy for wedding, showers, or any occasion, please email lmccalligraphy@yahoo.com

Thanks everyone!!! Mike wants to name each of the styles after streets in Kirkwood. We will see what the final verdict is!

New Calligraphy Styles

Our little calligraphy business is picking up so we decided that adding new options would be a good idea. We also need to come up with names for them. Here they are... (Please note, I am NOT a photographer so the pictures aren't the best.)What do you think?

Calligraphy

Sooo....I don't really know how we are going to go about this whole calligraphy "business" thing. At first, I thought that he could do it for family and friends but then Stlwed girls started asking. It is hard to say no when it is so easy for him. I guess we will need to figure out some type of protocol and more professional way of doing this. Obviously, this won't get big enough to really matter but I want to do this "the right way" and I don't want it to seem shady. We have a lot to think about.

Last night, Mike was playing around with his new calligraphy pen and he "made up" a new font/style of writing. I loved it! It reminded me of something from Betsy Dunlap.I love this style!!! I wish he would have thought of it before he did ours!!! He said that it takes him longer to do but I think it is beautiful!

Tomorrow, I will spend the day at my desk working on report cards. It really is a time of year that I hate. Since I am such a procrastinator, I am going to go right now and finish grading. Hope you have a great weekend!

We are famous! (haha...kind of)

Throughout my wedding planning, I visited the blog, Elizabeth Ann Designs, very often. I have never submitted pictures or even comments to wedding websites before but about a month ago, I decided to submit our wedding invitations to their DIY contest. Someone on Stlwed let me know that our invitations were featured today! How exciting :) Maybe we will get some more calligraphy customers. I didn't really think that this would turn into a "business" but with 4 "clients" already, I guess it is actually happening!
