Nursery Inspiration
With our second trimester scares, we decided to put off the nursery a little longer than usual. But now, (finally) at the beginning of 3rd trimester, I think it is time to get started!!!
We knew that any nursery of ours was NOT going to have a theme. No animals, cars, sports, etc. Instead, we wanted to find a color scheme and build our nursery around that. I scoured the internet for inspiration and was getting frustrated. Boy nurseries are hard!
Finally, we found that a mix of grey, turquoise, green, and white were the colors that most attracted us. Here's some of our inspiration:
First off, MODG (LOVE her), hit the nail on the head.
Not sure where I found this but similar colors.
I was so excited to find this set from Dwell Studio!
And I had Mike make this inspiration board...
We have done a bunch of tweaking since then and honestly, I am not sure what we will end with.
We did end up deciding on this crib:
We are going to purchase the Ikea Hemnes white dresser and I can't wait to see it together with the crib.
Then I started to like this inspiration board and new bedding...
Ugh...I'm such a mess!
Not sure on our final bedding. Right now, we have these ordered to see in person:
And I'm still thinking about the owls...
I want to make this mobile...still trying to figure that out!
I just can't let myself spend over $500 on a chair. I understand the importance of the rocker/glider but we are probably going to go with someone a little less expensive. I like the chocolate slipcover on the Dorel rocker, but of course, the chocolate color isn't in stock. Why can't anything be easy?
I LOVE this shag rug from Ikea!
Ok...that was such a random collection of pictures and text. Once we decide on our bedding, we will then start the painting and we will finally get going. Can you see my vision? What do you think?
I love the color scheme you have decided on. The MODG nursery is my favorite! Love that blog!
love your ideas. I swear, nursery decor is my most favorite part of pregnancy. It will be fab no doubt! Also, we used a FREE hand-me-down rocker and made cushions and our rocker is just fine although dirt cheap. Definitely do'nt overdo it there!
i like your vision and the dot bedding is my preference. i know you didn't ask, but just an FYI... i have the smaller hemnes and it's off-white- not white like they say.
I really like your inspiration pictures. I can't wait to see how it all turns out. I did want to add that we have the same 8-drawer Hemnes dresser in our room. It's quite big and we opted to do the 3-drawer Hemnes dresser for our baby instead. It's definitely a lot bigger than I think most expect for a 3-drawer dresser. I would recommend putting the measurements in your room to see if you really need the 8-drawer. Personally, I think it would be too big for a nursery (and our nursery is quite large).
Gorgeous! Love that wooden owl mobile. Can't wait to see it all come together. :)
Love it! I have the 3 drawer ikea hemnes chest too, and I think it's plenty big with 3 deep drawers. And mine is pretty white, not-really off white like Pamela's, but who knows. I also have that bamboo mobile with the jungle theme instead of owls. So yeah, I guess I like your style ;-)
I love those colors! My favorite bedding is the owls, but that's just my opinion ;) Great inspiration boards!
i do believe i can see your vision, and duh, it's fabulous :) it'll all turn out great. and of course, if you need help with anything, i'm totally down - i think that circle mobile could be made easily :)
Love your ideas. I too did not want a theme, luckily my mom can sew so wer are going that route. But I have also been attracted to your second bedding when looking online. Good luck!
adorable! I love it. I think that i had that problem w our slipcover but they come in stock often, just keep checking!
I love all your ideas! We are still working on our nursery, and Finn is 5 months old! He doesn't seem to care, though. ha! We haven't found bedding yet, that is our last thing we have to decide on. It is so hard!!
Awwww, yay! Love everything! Can't wait to see it in person!
love love love. (you already know this :) ok...my friend totally has that same dresser AND that rug from ikea. (just heads up..it sheds A LOT)- she has to vaccume it often. OH! and you can TOTALLY make that mobile! all you need is some fishing line, colored card stock paper, and one of those circle cutters!!! (or a scissors and a steady hand)
love that crib! It is on my inspiration list too! I think you have a great plan going.
