My Thursday Night Surprise!
Last Monday, Mike asked me what my plans were for Thursday night. I had a holiday party right after work but it would be over by six. He told me to come straight home because he had a surprise for me.
Let me start by saying that I hate surprises. OK...not really. Everyone loves surprises when they actually happen but the anticipation kills me if I know a surprise is coming! All week, I did everything I could to get home to break. I probably asked him for hints 1o times each day. Were we going to be outside (I thought he would take me ice skating or Tillis Park)? Were we going to go to dinner? What should I wear? I couldn't stop with the questions.
Wednesday night, he confirmed that I should not eat too much at my holiday party because we were going out to dinner at a restaurant that I have been wanting to go to for awhile. Humm?!
Thursday night finally rolls around and we decide to meet at home. I don't have time to change out of my work clothes, re-apply makeup, or brush my hair. We hop in the car and head for our dinner destination. Even on the ride, I start guessing our location. Monarch? The steakhouse on McCausland? We are heading toward the Loop?!? Pi? Hum? I swear, I guessed (half joking) "are we going to Blueberry Hill to see Marc Broussard? haha!" No no no. At Skinker and Forest Park Parkway, Mike handed over a little wrapped gift.Confused, I started to shake it around but was told that I needed to open it before we got to the restaurant. I am not kidding...my jaw dropped when I saw the two tickets staring at me.
Marc Broussard, my favorite singer, was back in town and playing at Blueberry Hill. I can't believe that I didn't even know that he was coming. I visited his MySpace page regularly (well until I cancelled my account), knew that he was here with Sara Bareilles a couple of months ago, and I can't believe I didn't know he was here!
Background story...Last August, Mike and I got engaged at the Marc Broussard concert at Blueberry Hill. I blogged about it here. I have posted the video before but I can't help but do it again.
So now, 1 year and 5 months later, we are happily married and going to see Marc again. The concert was amazing! He is ridiculously talented. If you haven't checked him out before, you really should do yourself a favor and do it. Now onto the pictures...I love how Marc and I were both wearing our gray vests :)
I took a couple of videos of my favorite songs. Here is a little bit of "Wanderer"...
I am so proud of myself. I have never uploaded videos from my camera through Blogger. That was pretty easy!!!
Marc didn't play "our song" (The Beauty of Who You Are) and we didn't stick around to say hi but I think that he saw us. I blew him a kiss and he responded with one back (I swear I didn't make it up...Mike saw it too!). It was such a wonderful surprise and a fantastic night. Thanks Mike, I love you!!!
awwww how fun is that!! can you please put your husband in contact with my husband and tell him to plan a surprise just as great?? ;)
you both are seriously so cute in the engagement video, and truly, it's so wonderful that you will have that forever on film.
kudos to your hubby on a surprise-well-done.
That is so sweet!! It looks like you guys had a great time!!
