Honeymoon (part 2)

Day 3 was a pretty laid-back day with plenty of time spent relaxing at the pool.We also enjoyed dinner at our hotel's Japanese restaurant. Mike ate octopus soup...gross...Other than the octopus, we enjoyed a very delicious meal. (Don't count the glasses on the table!) After a relaxing day, we decided on day 4 to take a boat ride out to "Lover's Beach" with our new friends (Jamie and Graham and Faye and Adam). The 6 of us split a glass bottomed boat and enjoyed the scenery and ride.Look at the sea lions!!!Welcome to "Lover's Beach"!Of course, we had to go to the Pacific side of the beach where the wave were bigger! Look at those cute guys...We under estimated the waves!Back on the calmer side, we swam in the water for awhile. Mike's water proof digital camera was a hit and definitely came in handy!A picture of our hotel from the ocean side! That night, we all went out to celebrate Faye's birthday. We ate dinner at Mi Casa, apparently a hot spot in Cabo. We had a blast. Great food, great drinks, and I even got a balloon flower from a creepy clown.Next, we went to Cabo Wabo for some birthday drinks! They place was a lot of fun but we were exhausted and didn't stay out tooooooo late. Happy birthday, Faye :)

Congrats Tess and Kevin!

Tonight, one of my friends (and bridesmaid) got engaged! Her birthday was actually yesterday but she celebrated at our housewarming party! Today, she and her boyfriend (now fiance) went skydiving. He planned a surprise birthday party for her tonight at her family owned bar in Soulard. Here is is walking into the room! SURPRISE...Let's rewind...
About 2 weeks ago, Kevin called me asking for my help. He wanted me to "round up the troops" and let everyone know that he was throwing her a surprise birthday party. Of course, I knew that he was going to propose. I called of the the girls and we were all on the double secret party. It was so hard to keep the secret from her. I just had to avoid her. She even mentioned that I barely talked to her last night at our party. I was just too nervous that I would slip.

Ok...back to tonight. For about 2 hours, everyone went along with the surprise birthday party thing. Finally, he stood up on the bar, called her to join him...and the rest is history :)My favorites...With all of the love in the air, I couldn't help but be completely smitten with my little hunny! The bride and groom-to-be were surrounded with friends and family but when it was my turn, I got a few great pictures!Check out her beautiful ring...Congrats to the happy couple! We are so excited for you! LOVE YOU!

Housewarming Party (before/after pics)

I have quickly realized that the best way to get your house clean is to throw a party! We cleaned like crazy for Leslie's shower a couple weeks ago and did it all again this weekend!

I have to say that Mike has worked SO so hard around the house lately. He has been putting together furniture, putting things up on the wall, and organizing and decorating. We got so many compliments on the house tonight and it is truly because of him!

On to the pictures! When we first moved in, our house looked like this.Now...it looks like this!Mike surprised me with the pictures frames and shelf the other night. He made the frames from scratch (bought the metal, matting, glass) and put it all together. I love them!

I also cleaned up our guest bedroom. When we moved in it looked like this...Now it looks like this...Empty living room...Decorated living room...I don't have a before picture of the bathroom but here is what it looks like now!
Old dining room...And new dining room...OUR NEW HUTCH! Mike picked it up yesterday and assembled it! It is beautiful. Here is a picture of it in all of its glory! We were filling it an hour before the party so we aren't really sure with what will stay and what will go! (Obviously, the cylinder full of gourds and candle aren't staying!)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Honeymoon (part 1)

I have just realized that I never blogged about our honeymoon!

2 days before our wedding, we had to decide if we wanted to risk going to Riviera Maya and being rained on because of the hurricane OR switch out plans and go to Cabo. It seems like an easy choice but I was very upset about it. I had been looking forward to our "swim-up suite" for months and months. Here was my original post back in March.

We decided to switch our plans to Cabo and I am so glad that we did. We LOVED our honeymoon and had a blast. Our new location was the Riu Palace in Cabo San Lucas.

***This is going to be an abbreviated review of the trip but it will probably take a few posts!***

When we got to our hotel, I was so so excited that I stepped out on our porch and started snapping pictures. Check out the view!We enjoyed our half-day of sun at the pool (of course with underwater pictures)...After cleaning up from our first day in Cabo, we ate a yummy dinner at the hotel's Mexican themed restaurant. The next day was wonderful...we met friends! We enjoyed many hours (and many drinks) at the pool and decide to go on a "sunset cruise" that evening. Ummm...we were fooled. The trip was NOT a "sunset cruise"...it was, in fact, a BOOZE CRUISE! It started off pretty calmand progressively got wilder. The Titanic pose, right?! Very romantic! Of course, we enjoyed our cruise with our new friendsLONGGGGG DAY but it was so much fun! Day 3 and 4 up next :)

Oh yeah....

I forgot something in my last post! How could I forget?!?! Last night I was at my old roommates house (yes, Julia...Mike Maloney). I lived with him for almost a year and a half before I got married. We enjoyed dinner....Taco Tuesday to be exact. As we began to watch the new Indiana Jones movie, we heard a loud crash and scrape outside the window. It sounded like Mike's car was hit. See, Maloney shares his driveway with his neighbor. There is plenty of room for 2 cars to be on the driveway at the same time. As the neighbor was backing his car down the driveway, he hit Mike's little Mazda3. :( We went outside to a very angry neighbor, who didn't have insurance, and was ready to beat Maloney up (long story...). Bottom line...there is $1,300 of damage on our car and not insurance company to pay for it. The police officer said our options are to get money from him to directly or to sue him. Oh boy...this is not going to be fun...

I'm back!

Hello, my faithful blog readers! Sorry to abandon you lately. I don't really know what I have been busy doing but I feel like I have been crazy. Let me catch you up quickly...
-We are still working on decorating the house. Tonight, Mike wants to hang pictures and shelves and my job is to clean, clean, clean. We are having a housewarming party (finally) at our new (kind of) home.
-I have gained 7 pounds since the wedding. At first, I thought it was funny saying, "Haha, I gained 5 pounds on the honeymoon." It was funny then, but it isn't now. I am in my best friend's wedding (I love that movie) in a month from today and I would like to drop at least 3 of those 7 lbs. I need to get back to schedule and stop the post-wedding binge.
-We went to our friend's cabin this past weekend. Her family has a cabin by Hermann and we spent some time at the wineries and then hours around the fire. I have never shot a gun so I had to jump at the chance. I was a little stressed out by 6 guys giving me directions at once and I got a little scared (see picture below...)But after it was all loaded up, I was ready to go. (Sorry my eyes are shut in this picture. I guess I will still a little nervous!)Bina got to try too! Nothing like a girl in a halter top with a gun. I shouldn't talk...I was wearing a dress... I made a Sarah Palin joke but only Bina laughed. Mike said that he wanted to laugh but he kept it in. Wrong crowd, I guess (I should have known....I was holding a gun!!!)?!!?-We still don't have our Crate and Barrel hutch and buffet. Remember this? Apparently "it is in" now and should be to us by Friday. But they don't want to get out hopes up because it could be damaged. WTF?!
-I am getting my hair trimmed tomorrow. I want to chop it SO bad but I am going to keep it long for Leslie's wedding. We are just going to cut all of the dead ends off. Seriously, it is pretty gross (see picture from this weekend at the winery)and you can see that hubby needs a haircut too! He might shave it...ahhhh! I don't know if I have shown what happened last time...EEK! Don't do it babe!!! Haha..he is going to kill me for that! BUT...look at my cute hair. Maybe I will do that again this spring :)
-We finally finished our thank you notes. It was such a great accomplishment!
-Hummm...what else?! I think that is pretty good for now! Enjoy watching the debates tonight!
