Read more...so. cold. I. hate. winter.
Just got an email from my district's superintendent about tomorrow's weather. Apparently, if the windchill drops below -20, school will be canceled. The thought behind this is that students cannot wait at bus stops.
Honestly, I want to have school. We get of for MLK Jr. day on Monday and I would rather have a snow day with actual snow. It always snows in February and I would hate for us to use all of our snow days on days without snow!
We will see!
...this kid is pretty hot. As a Jacob fan, I can't wait to see how New Moon turns out! I can't believe that he put on 26 pounds!
As mentioned before, I love watching the Golden Globes and especially the dresses! Eva Longoria was amazing!
Here are my other favs...
Kate Winslet looked beautiful last night and I loved her speeches. She just really seems like a nice person...AND, she was sitting next to my boyfriend (Leo) last night! Her dress, hair, and makeup were perfect.
Eva Mendes. Amazing. She just glows and the white looked stunning on her. Also, the necklace...wow.
Drew Barrymore- Loved the dress and HATED the hair. Seriously hated her hair.
I don't even know who this girl is but I loved her dress. The color was great and in an interview before the show, she said that the earrings were custom-made for the dress.
Now for the looks that I wasn't fond of...
Angelina Jolie wasn't terrible but I wasn't in love either. I am a big Angie fan and she is ridiculously gorgeous...I just wasn't crazy for the dress.
In my opinion, she looked more put together last week at The Critic's Choice Awards.
I am starting to notice that I like updos more than all down. Hum.
Anne Hathaway- I usually like her style but not tonight. Too pale. Too skinny. Really though, I think that she has lost a lot of weight recently and she looks better with a little more meat on her bones.
JLo looked like she was trying too hard. She was on a lot of best dressed lists but I didn't like it and I don't think that it was flattering.
Renee, WTF were you thinking? No. no. no.
Just my thoughts. Feel free to agree or disagree...or not care :)
Things are coming together so quickly. I am truly amazed at what these boys can do! Last night, I contributed my only talent to the new kitchen project...painting. We painted that room so fast. Mike has been a little slower since he hurt his back on Saturday. All that we have left to do is:
-Finish floors and grout
-Install cabinets
-Choose granite and install countertops
-Hook up all of our appliances
We are gettin' there!
Anyone else watching the Golden Globes tonight? I love to check out the amazing gowns!
I always think that I will catch up on my sleep over the weekend but this weekend, I just got further behind.
On Friday night, we ate dinner at Oishi Sushi in Chesterfield to celebrate Mike's brother's birthday. Danny won't be in town for his birthday so we celebrated early and it was delish. Look at all of this yummy food! We ended up being at Mike's parent's house until pretty late so it was off to bed around midnight for me.
Saturday morning, we woke up early to work on the kitchen. When Mike was getting dressed, he somehow threw out his back. He was screaming and writhing in pain. He said it was like a constant charlie-horse and very painful. Sadly, he was on the couch for most of the day and his brother, Chris, had to do all of the work. BUT, the sub floor was laid and it is all ready for tile!
We were so lucky to get a visit from Tess and her English bulldog, Truman. He is so freaking cute and I couldn't get enough of him!He is definitely a beggar and he was just fascinated with Chris. Truman followed him around and watched Chris' every move.
The guys decided to stay in and watch a movie because I had a work karaoke night with the ladies. Here are the 3 studs that have been working on the kitchen for the last 2 weeks!Mali, Nick's adorable doggie, came over to hang out too!
While the boys stayed in watching "The Dark Knight," I was out singing with my work friends. We had such a great time and I think that we might have started a tradition. We will definitely do that again!
This morning was a little rough but we spent the day looking for flooring and countertops. We came home with new tile and it will be put down tomorrow or Tuesday. Tonight, we are painting so I will have some new kitchen update pictures soon!
Hope you had a great weekend!
Last night, our kitchen looked like this...and this...
But this morning, I woke up to this!
YAY! Now we are deciding on paint colors. We are focusing on a taupe/grayish colors (you can't really tell the colors from the picture below).
Mike found some inspiration on HGTV's website for Rate My Space. Have you looked at that site before? The show is awesome and you can get a lot of great inspiration for redecorating! Here is what we are thinking for the kitchen.
White cabinets, gray walls, yellowish/beige granite counters, and mixed tile back splash. Here is another kitchen with the same color scheme. The kitchen is coming along faster than I thought. However, we haven't picked anything out: paint, counters, tiles. Eek...we need to get moving on this! We are going to hit the hardware stores this weekend and get it all figured out!
I know that it is complete trash, sleaze, and cheese but I LOVE IT!
I know there are more Nip/Tuck fans out there. Mike has watched every season with me but he just won't do it. He said last year was just too ridiculous. The more ridiculous, the better for me.
Right now, ABC is rocking my world. So many of my favorite shows are on ABC!
I decided that I would give this year's bachelor, Jason, a chance. I haven't watched this show since college but I used to love it!
Jason seems like a really nice guy but he sure did get some wackos as bachelorettes. Here are a few of my favorite crazies.
Dominique- Don't know why...I just thought she was weird.
Jackie- Seriously, what was her problem? She is a wedding coordinator and she has already planned her wedding to Jason. CRAZY!
Renee- What the heck was she talking about with her vision boards?! I know what a vision board is...I saw the episode on Oprah, but seriously??? Her eyes were creepy too!!!
Shannon- She was so strange with her salsa moves when she got out of the limo. Jason didn't even know what to do!
Lisa- I just really hated her dress. It was that long, green one. Ew.
My favorite for now? Melissa. She. Is. Adorable.
I promise that I won't post a picture every day but I just can't get over the gutted reality of this kitchen redo. Here is where the stove once stood...Here is where the counter and cabinets were.
Of course, they are constantly running into struggles. Right now, I think the biggest problem is that we have some rotted beams from water damage. They are currently replacing the beams but of course, that is taking time. I honestly don't think this kitchen will be done by the end of January. We shall see!
I can't believe another year has come and gone. As I get older, I swear the years get shorter and shorter. It really is scary how time flies!
This year, Kate set up NYE for us and booked the upstairs room at Jefferson Avenue Bistro. For a very reasonable price, we had apps, open bar, and midnight breakfast! It was a great deal and we had a great time. At first, we were all a little skeptical and unfortunately, the heat wasn't working. It was actually funny to see all of my friends dolled up but bundled in their coats.
All it took was a few games of flipcup, the dimming of the lights, and some dance music to warm us up!
Here are a few pics... Playing flipcup.Dancing.
Spending time with the ladies.
Drinking cherry/grape bombs. A lot of them.
We ended the night at Kate's house, crammed on her couch (Mike wasn't giving me much room), and trying to sleep. We actually slept pretty late and ended up playing with her doggies. (Which by the way, Mike almost stole her new dog, Chloe.)
Alrighty, I need to grade some papers. I have been off work for a week and a half and I haven't done ANYTHING for school.
Today, January 2nd, is my blog's birthday!
I just looked back at my first post last January it is really amazing how far we have come in 1 year. 2008 was a whirlwind year and I wonder what 2009 will bring. A few weddings, a few babies, and a new kitchen are all in the lineup.
Here's to a happy and healthy 2009!
Wherever you are tonight, have fun celebrating the New Year. Be careful!
My fridge is in my living room, stove in the garage, and dishwasher in the basement. Mike and Chris are getting our first meal without our kitchen...McDonalds. What am I doing right now? Putting away Christmas decorations. We wanted to keep them up for another week but I thought I should take advantage of being off. AND, now we need room for the kitchen in the living room so the tree has got to go!
OH...and I am obsessed with our Wii! Check us out last night! My sister is REALLY good! I have a lot of learning to do but I am sure that I will have plenty of practicing ahead of me. Next, I want to get Wii Fit!
