EQUALS...My new favorite workout!!!! I am still running and training for my 6 mile relay for the Go St. Louis but thought this would be a run way to switch things up on my non-running days. It is hard!!! I was never on a swim team growing up so I am just winging it right now. I can't go to fast or for too long without stopping to catch my breath but this is an awesome workout! Any swimmers out there? (I am hoping this also helps with my weigh-in on Thursday.)
I'm an awful swimmer, but I've always wanted to get better at it. It IS a great workout!
I love to swim but haven't in a long time. I would definitely work out more if I could swim somewhere.
I couldn't swim to save my life but this looks like a great workout! That's awesome that you're putting yourself out there and trying something new. Oh and I love your new blog header :)
First of all, love your new header!! Secondly, swimming got my mom in the best shape of her life! She swears by it. She tried everything (she is pear shaped), and swimming is the only thing that dwindled down her stomach, hips, and thighs. I hope it works for you, too!
Jealous! I really need to start swimming and/or water workouts due to my hip arthritis but I have no pools nearby. Let us knwo hot it goes. Love your new blog look too!
Swimming is the best! If you do flip turns it works every muscle in your body (supposedly). Plus the low/no impact is a great recovery between runs. You've inspired me...time to get back in the pool!
that's so awesome, lauren! best of luck this week!
I grew up in a pool, essentially, and love swimming. I'm glad you found something you really enjoy! It can't be easy to start swimming during the coldest months of the year (wet hair, pale skin, post-holidays), so kudos to you. I hope your weigh-in tomorrow is successful!
I am! I LOVE swimming. I highly recommend getting a pull buoy and a pair of flippers to help "mix things up" a bit with your swimming workout/routine. I have these flippers (http://www.speedousa.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3106917&utm_source=froogle-pi&utm_medium=pi&utm_date=20100218&utm_content=7530006) and this pull buoy (http://www.speedousa.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3106953&jsessionid=TZ5vL9LKg3GWhrWzRvHzGxHpl0yvdHzKL4g1v1pTWdWTQYp532Jx!351247743&cp=3124326.3128426.3132078). Flippers are great when you want to work on your legs (they provide some drag)- plus you really speed along. The pull buoy lets you float while you keep your legs still -- great for doing "arm" workouts. Anyway! Just something I thought I'd suggest because sometimes laps can get a bit boring - this way you can switch it up a bit!
