The road to meet Mia.

I woke up on Saturday morning with butterflies in my stomach. I was nervous and excited to finally meet our puppy but honestly, I was way more nervous than excited. We pulled up to the gas station because Kenneth (Mia's previous owner) agreed to meet us halfway. The moment I saw her, I almost died. My heart melted and I actually started to cry. I really hadn't ever seen anything so adorable! We put her in her travel crate and started our journey home. We had prepared ourselves for a drive home full of poop, pee, and puke. But instead, she fell right asleep. Like, dead asleep...snoring and all!We has to wake her up each time we stopped so she could go potty. Here are pictures of our first pit stop in Arkansas. She was so good in her crate the entire time. She would fall right asleep until our next stop. I just kept looking back and starting at her. After 6 hours on the road, we were finally home and my parents came over for a delicious dinner! Of course, I took many more pictures of our baby!My mom even brought Mia presents that she loved. She can't wait to be big enough to play frisbee! (I have a feeling that it will be sooner than later.)I have gotten a bunch of questions about the first night. Honestly, it wasn't too bad (the second night was much worse!!!) She woke up and cried at 12, 1, 2, and 4. She woke up at 7 am for the day. No accidents in the crate and she peed each time we took her out.

Sunday, we celebrated Mother's Day (my first) at our house with bagels and family. It was lovely and we had more chances to take pictures of our pup. We started to wait at GC but after 45 minutes, we decided to leave. (Doesn't my mom look AMAZING only 2 weeks post surgery? Sorry, Mom...you do!!!) Someone at home was being a ham for the camera...Happy Mother's Day to me :)And family pictures without the canine...After a wonderful Mother's Day, we were exhausted. Mia didn't want to sleep last night. She cried every hour and I wasn't a fan. Waking up for work at 6 was super hard and I was dragging all day. It is 9:30 right now and I am going to hop in bed because I have a feeling it will be a repeat show tonight.

adorable pics, of course. it WILL get easier at night but I have to say, the waking up for the day at 6 or 7 am does not get easier on the weekends. I hated that part the most but it's worth it! Just keep telling yourself that! :)

OMG!!! She is SO CUTE! I have two furry children, and I won't lie...the first little while is a bit rough with getting used to being in a new place and sleeping through the night...they're just like kids! But, it's all worth it for the love you get in return! Congrats on your new baby! :)

She is just so cute!! We had a boxer when I was little and she was an awesome dog! I know the puppy times can be tough but eventually she'll grow out of it. Take lots and lots of pictures because one day you wake up and they're all grown up! =-)

Aww I love Mia!! We made the mistake of letting Lola sleep in our bed so she wouldn't whine at night. Fast forward two years and she's just now learning to sleep without us. Stay strong!

Puppies are hard work, but they are just so dang cute!! Lucky for us, Butch and Alvin were both 6 months old when we adopted them, so we didn't have to worry about the middle of the night crying.

And this is random, but you and your sis stand exactly the same way in pictures!

Seriously, minus my two pups (I'm partial!), Mia is the cutest puppy ever!

What an exciting way to welcome yourself into "motherhood" right before Mother's Day!

What a cute little princess!!! I love her face, I mean how could you not!!!!

I have to say that missing the puppy stage on all of our family dogs, was the best choice we ever made. No sleepless nights, no poopy messes and all the other puppy type things...

Good luck as the next couple months go on. It gets worse before it gets better! :)

We also got a puppy over the weekend, and are having a very similar experience. A peaceful first night got our hopes up that the whole process would go very smoothly - followed by cries and shrieks from the crate the following night. I feel your pain!

More validation of my decision to adopt an adult dog:) I just don't think I could deal with the crying. Then again, I didn't get to look at an adorable puppy face every day. Congrats again!

Urgh, she is just too cute!!!

Your puppy is adorable!!! It's tough for the first few weeks, till she can learn to hold her bladder till morning. We used to get up every 2-3 hrs in the middle of night, then it's increases to 4-6 hrs, and even 8- 10 hrs. Sometimes you might even have to let her cry till she falls asleep. Best of luck!
