Mia, Mia, Mia

Just say that with Jan Brady's voice like "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha." Seriously, that is how I feel. Everything is about Mia right now. She has taken over my life, my mind, and my sleeping schedule. I can't get anything done at home but I can't stay at work because I have to let her out.

I love this dog so much but there have been times when I just can't stand her. I hate when I get this feeling but sometimes I am just so tired and if she bites one more things, I am going to just flip out!!! Does that sound bad? I love her...I really really do. It is just exhausting. People warned us about getting a puppy and we really did know what we were getting in to.

Having this little puppy has really made me realize that I am not ready to have children. (Sorry, Mom!) I do not like that my social life is being compromised. And by social life, I am including how hard it is to attend staff meetings, doctor appointments, and master's classes without taking into account the bladder of Miss Mia at home. I really encourage other couples to get pets before trying for kids. It really changes your perspective on life.

I must say that I am pretty impressed by the little pup. We have only had her for a little over a week and she is finally on a pretty good night potty schedule. She needs to go out at 2:30 am and 6:00 am (which is when I get up). That is only getting up ONCE in the night, folks! Pretty awesome if you ask me! She still hasn't peed or pooped in the house. She has peed a few times in the crate when we didn't get home on time to let her out :( Bad parents.

OK...I just needed to get that all out. Each day she is getting better and better. I only have 6 more days of school and then it is me and Mia...all day :) I hope I survive!

She hasn't peed in the house yet?? Dang girl, you guys are kicking butt!

And I totally understand the love/hate relationship. :)

I feel your pain sister, new puppies are a ton of work. But it doesn't last too long, and then when they are trained they're pretty low maintenance. I remember when Daisy was a puppy and I had to get up during the night to let her out. That was 6 years ago and we've had very few problems since. Just remember there is light at the end of the tunnel!

She'll soon outgrow the annoying puppy habits. It is amazing how much life can change when you get a new dog! It's awesome she's already on a great schedule. Good luck with the little angel!! =-)

I commend you for realizing you aren't ready to give up your 'real life' just yet for another tiny being. Dude, the puppy months [or years] are way hard. Hang in there, and remember to find a balance. She can't be your whole life or you really will flip out. Lack of sleep doesn't help either, does it? :)

Remember, when Mia is 1 or 2 you are going to remember these first few months and smile. You'll forget a lot of the bad stuff, I promise.

We missed/skipped the puppy years because we rescused our dogs when they were fully grown. Obviously, we're happy to have missed what you're blogging about. But on the other hand, we're so bummed that we never got to have them when they were tiny, etc. Grass is always greener! Yay for summer coming soon!!!
