My baby....

is the best! As you all know, the past couple of weeks have been really hard for me. I go through mini-breakdown periods about semi-annually...and I really thought this would be one of them. But guess what folks...TA DA...I DID NOT CRY! Oh no...not once! Tonight, I got close...twice...tears in the eyes. We had cheerleading tryouts and we cut 3 former cheerleaders. NEVER FUN...seriously painful. The house thing is driving me crazy (we have our inspections tomorrow at 8 AM...it is 1:30 AM right now). But school is officially out for spring break :) I just need this break!

But now here's the reason for this post! My darling sent me flowers yesterday and they were delivered to work. Here they areFirst of all...so sweet. Seriously, the letter was adorable. Something along the lines of, "I am so proud of all the hard work you do. You are the best and I love you...." So I call him to say thanks (and here is my first attempt at Julia's dialog posts. )
Me: "Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers. That was so thoughtful and sweet of you. I will definitely get through my conferences now (wait, check our my adorable conference table...candle and backlighting...uh huh)."
Mike: "Of course, I love you. Are they pretty?"
Me: (long pause) (please don't think that I am a brat, who ever reads this...) "Well, they aren't ugly."
Mike: (laughs) "What do you mean 'not ugly'."
Me: (laughs even harder): (trying to change the subject...I get a 25 minute lunch break) "Thank you so much I love them...blablabla"

Later that night, he comes over and watches a little Biggest Loser with me. I mention the thoughtful flowers and he gets up to take a look in the kitchen. He sits down and says, "They looked bigger on the internet. Assholes." Cracked me up. IT IS THE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS! I made it through the week! Now...I am going to tackle my HUGE to-do list over my "spring break."

Yeah, I can't sleep either...
That is so sweet though! They aren't ugly! They are very bright and cheerful. But it reminds me of a few years ago, I sent my fiancee flowers and he called me when he got them and told me they were gorgeous and everything. Then when I got home, a few days later, I was like "that's it?" It was this like 3" tall skinny vase, with 4 measy flowers, not lush at all. But it was bc all I had specified was that I wanted very unique flowers, and a budget. So apparently unique (and they were, we had no idea what they were), but my budget obviously hadn't gone far for unique flowers! :) It is the thought that counts!

LOL, you sound like me! DH has bought me flowers a few times, and nearly every bouquet has been about identical to that. You're right, they aren't ugly, but they aren't quite my style either. But, it's totally the thought that counts! ;)

Lauren - great job on the Julia-esque dialog. That very much sounds like a conversation Brian and I would have. "They looked bigger on the internet. Assholes." is particularly a line I can see Brian using.

And you're right, cutting former members of a cheer team is HARD! My freshman year, I was actually the reason a senioor got cut. I sucked!!!

"Well they're not ugly." hahaha :) I can appreciate Mike's reaction, because anytime I order flowers online, they never look how I think they will!

In any case, what a sweet gesture!

Don't feel too bad about being stressed...I probably had about 50 nervous breakdowns while I was planning our wedding and buying our house...it can be a lot to handle!

Enjoy your break :)

Bravo! Great dialogue use!

I love your honesty and Mike's reaction. Too funny and so typical!
