Operation "Lose Weight" begins!

"9 months on, 9 months off." People have been repeating that phrase over and over to me. Well, folk, Ethan is 8 months old and I officially have 23 days until "9 months off".

I've never been skinny and I'm not trying to get skinny. I'm trying to get to a good place for myself and my body. So, let's quickly go over this past year and a half. I started here (September 2010-4 weeks pregnant):
End ended here (32 pounds later...May 2011-9 months pregnant):I walked out of the hospital down 20 pounds. (That was a perk of having a baby that was 9 pounds, 4 oz!) I felt pretty good, 20 down only 12 to go. I lost another 5-6 pounds by my 6 week post-op appointment and felt like I was in the home stretch. And that is where the weight lost stopped. I have not lost 1 pound since Ethan was 6 weeks old. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've gained a few lately.

I feel pretty horrible about myself and cringe when I see pictures of what I'm looking like now-a-days. With a trip to Mexico in my near-future, I am motivated to finally lose those last 7-10 pounds (and then some).

The plan is to train for a half marathon. It's hard to believe that the last time I ran was 16 months ago. Pathetic. We bought a treadmill and I'm happy to say, that I have used it every day this week.

I saw this great idea on Pinterest:
I thought that it would be really great for me to actually see the amount that I am trying to lose. Honestly though, 25 measly little marbles don't look like that much. They just sit at the bottom of a rocks glass. I'm going to need to find a skinny vase of something. I'd love to check in here with updates on my marbles :) Probably not weekly but maybe monthly.

So, 25 pounds is the goal. I'm hoping to get to -20 by the Mexico trip and 25 would be icing on the cake. I'm going to cut back on the booze, start a working out regimen, and watch what is going into my mouth. Weight loss isn't magic...it's simply a science. Less in and more out. WE CAN DO THIS! Here goes nothing!

It's great that you are realistic about your goals and how to achieve them. I love the marble idea! I'm trying to get motivated to get moving again after baby - it's hard!

Well when I saw you last month I thought you looked great! I think it's awesome that you have a goal (Mexico seems like a GREAT goal!) and I love the marble idea! Loving catching up with your blog again!!

You already look awesome and I am so proud of you! Let me know if you want to hit up Bikram with me on the weekends. It would be an awesome stretching opportunity while you train for the half--plus I'm sure that counts as cross training!

Good luck with training for your half! That's an amazing goal in itself! You go girl!

Good luck! I'm doing the Whole Living Action Plan right now and have loved it! It has really kickstarted my workout and eating rut and forced me to try new foods. Keep blogging about it! I'm with you - although I'm on 9 months on and 27 months off plan ;)

You can do it, mama! You look fab right now without losing an ounce but if you aren't happy with yourself, then that is all that matters. Rock that half marathon training, lady!

I recommend Weight Watchers. They have some great tips and great recipes, and it really has worked for me.

go mommma, go! I lost all the weight and then some with Brady but I still have 20-30 pounds on me I gained after my car accident, so after this baby comes out, it's on! :)

Great Idea! It really takes more than 9 months to lose all the weight...with my daughter it wasn't until I stopped nursing that the final pounds came off.
