Politics and Privacy

It is really amazing how times have changed.  Technology has changed the way we live our daily lives, how we function, how we communicate, and how we express ourselves.  I remember at a young age, hearing that you should never talk politics or religion with friends.   And I can definitely agree with this...nothing is fun about arguing and debating with friends.

I remember the days when I didn't know if my co-workers were Republicans or Democrats.  I remember when I didn't have to read the hateful opinions of my childhood neighbors.  I remember the days where I didn't have to cringe and see all of the pages and pictures that my high school acquaintances "liked" or commented on.  But those days are over and Facebook has changed everything.  And from now until November, I know I will be annoyed every time I get online.  I mean seriously, politics are private no more.

I can honestly say that I 100% believe that if you run for president in our country, you want the best for our country and its citizens.  Personally, I don't know why ANYONE would want that job but I really believe that the candidates want to help and not harm.

Whether the president is Republican or Democrat, it really upsets me when I see people post ignorant, mean insults on Facebook.  I'm talking about name-calling here, people.  I mean, I literally saw people call the LEADER OF OUR COUNTRY insulting names Internet the other night.  WOW...how patriotic is that?  (And not that long ago, it would have been considered treason.)  Whether you like him or not, I personally think that kind of behavior makes YOU look bad.  It is embarrassing to me to see that.  Our presidents and candidates aren't like Hitler or Kin Jon Il.  They aren't causing genocide and they aren't purposefully trying to hurt people.

Of course, this is all my opinion so I get to express it on my blog.  It's just really been bothering me lately.  Whoever gets elected president of our country, whether I voted for him or not, I can honestly say that I will respect him as the leader of our country, even if I don't agree with all of his decisions.  I promise that I won't name-call and insult in public and on the Internet.

Woah, that was a lot more than I thought I would write.  Bottom line...don't write cringe-worthy things on FB about politics.  Sure, we have freedom of speech...but really, keep it to yourself.  Facebook shouldn't be the platform.  Go back to posting pictures of your babies, food, and dogs.  K, thanks!  Happy weekend :)
