In a rut

I feel like I am just stuck in a rut right now. Wake-up. Work. After school activity. Dinner. Computer/TV time. Sleep. Repeat. I am so bored with this routine! And...it has helped me gain back 10 pounds. I love having DVR but seriously, I can watch TV for hours. Before, if I was busy then I missed my show. Now, they are all recorded and I will sit down for countless hours catching up. Not good.

I want to figure something out to do after school. Last night, I decided that I am going to do Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred each night before Mike gets home from work. That way, I don't feel like such a lazy bum!I know that I need to join a gym. This has been on my to-do list for a while now. I keep thinking that when the weather gets nice, I will spend more time outside...maybe walking our future dog?

I want Mike and I to find something fun to do together in the evenings (other than watching TV). Maybe a puzzle? Some type of game? I don't know. Any suggestions?

I just feel so blah....I am always so tired. I get 7-8 hours each night so I think this is because I haven't been working out. I am sure that getting active will make everything feel better. A change in the weather will probably help too.

Ok...I am done complaining now. I need to stop talking the talk and start walking the walk.

I'm right there with you! Exercising was definitely helping for awhile, but now I'm getting completely overwhelmed with school and work and I want to spend my time relaxing, not at the gym. I love the 30DS video, and I'm REALLY going to make more of an effort to do it in the morning before I go to work.

As far as an activity, Matt suggested we find something active we can do together--like a softball league or something. We haven't investigated much, but that would get you some quality time, exercise, and time outdoors!

I'm feeling the same way lately. How do you like the Jillian Michaels DVD? I've heard mixed reviews on it.

Jillian Michael's is a GREAT DVD. I've also been doing P90X which is hard core but I'm really seeing the results!

oh lauren, i could have written this post myself, i feel the same exact way these days! i do think it's in part because of the crappy and still-cold weather that so many people are in a rut. just hang in there.
as far as activities to do, kevin and i have been playing a lot of games lately in the evenings, and that is fun :) we do old-school scrabble, chess, checkers (you're kind of limited with just 2 people), sometimes we play scattergories, and even some games on his xbox. we also make a point to just sit down on the couch and just TALK with a glass of wine, one night a week, with no tv or movies playing in the background, and i LOVE this. it's a great catch-up night.
and good luck with jillian, she will likely make you feel SOOORE the first few days, but she'll whip you into shape pretty fast :)

I have been feeling the same way! The 30 Day Shred is a great video and I think it's an effective, quick workout. Watch out Level 2 is killer! When the weather is nice, FI and I try to get out and take a walk after work. It gets us some exercise, fresh air, and this is when we have some of our best conversations. We also joined a kickball league that has been a lot of fun!

What a challenge for yourself! Good luck, please keep us updated on your success!

I joined a gym, and signed up for a personal trainer because that's the only way I'll actually do something at the gym!

Getting a dog will definitely help you get out of your rut! We spend so much quality time together because of the dog. We actually talk when we walk him instead of watching TV or some other non-interactive activity we would normally be doing. And, it's good for us and good for the dog!
